Life’s definitely too short for any boredom! With the FREDDY from the UMF series, MERIDA introduces a 180 mm full-suspension freerider whose sheer performance data alone give a pretty good impression of the great cycling fun you will experience on this brilliant bike in 2013!

For many years, our team of “United Merida Freeriders” has been rocking the scene with successful bikes. Now MERIDA offers something new for all enthused lovers of downhill fun! With its frame weight of just 3.000 g*, our FREDDY ranges among the freeride fraction’s lightest models. But this playful handiness with the “licence to style” should not divert your attention from the fact that our 180 mm fully monster is primarily and competently designed for bike park purposes and other tough adventures. Our FREDDY’s superb freerider performance is especially guaranteed by the sophisticated chassis with “Virtual Pivot Kinematics” (“VPK”) whose virtual pivot point provides the bike with a lot of convincing characteristics. For example, “VPK” eagerly utilizes the complete suspension travel of 180 mm while remaining entirely active also under full brake load – thus you will master the next challenging turn without any problem. Thanks to its flat steering angle (65,5°) and MERIDA’s very own interpretation of a “broad” cockpit with 800 mm handlebar**, the FREDDY is a really passionate “game partner” with outstandingly safe handling in every situation. So competitors, beware! As it should be, our FREDDY freerider also features 2.4” tires, a powerful 200/180 mm braking system and a mighty fork/shock setup which does definitely not deny all jumps like a stubborn horse. Equally typical for this category are the agile rear stay (just 435 mm) with thru axle and the single chain ring with chain guard. Or do you prefer even a little more Enduro potential? Here you are: The FREDDY can be equipped with an optional front derailleur for becoming a very drivetrain-neutral long-travel Enduro in the twinkling of an eye – of course also thanks to “VPK”! So please don’t ask what your bike can do for you – just ride your bike as you like it!
