DAKAR
Out into the fresh air, through the forest with buddies, membership in a bike club or the daily, healthy and relaxed way to school: There are enough good reasons to place your child on a bike. And to ensure real cycling fun, you should choose the proper bike right from the start.
In these young days, we often do not realize how untroubled a child’s life can be. But to be honest: It’s actually a real blessing to be still free from the obligations and responsibilities of adult life – and instead to be allowed to think freely and happily about answers to rather “trivial” questions like the choice of the first or next favourite bike. As soon as your beloved offspring is able to walk, she/he is ready for her/his first MERIDA: Our DAKAR 612-COASTER features a compact 7.5” aluminium frame with 12” pneumatic tires and coaster brake. And thanks to the specific designs for boys and girls, it won’t probably be the subject of conflicts between brothers and sisters. The same applies to the bigger DAKAR 616-COASTER whose 8” frame is carried by 16” pneumatic tires. Both models come with reliable stabilizers which can be demounted easily as soon as your child is able to ride safely without their support. From wheel size 20”, all MERIDA youth bikes are not equipped with such helpers any more. This starts with the DAKAR 620 whose aluminium frame differentiates between girl and boy not only in visual terms but also with regard to construction: The “lady” version is 0.5” smaller and has a lower top tube for a larger standover height – and therefore for more confidence and safety. Both variants are slowed down by powerful calliper brakes and delight with a 7-speed revoshifter system as well. Our DAKAR 624-V already offers 21 gears; also in this case, the frame of the “lady” version is 0.5” smaller and features a comparatively lower top tube. In contrast, this difference is not made any more by the DAKAR CHAMPION-V as well as by the models NINETY-SIX JUNIOR 624-SUS and DAKAR TEAM-D (respectively inspired by our MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM): These are already genuine MTBs – the race hardtail even comes with disc brakes.
