Although everyday life is often hectic and could therefore be slower sometimes: With respect to this, a SPEEDER is definitely the wrong choice. Because our SPEEDER is as light-weight, stiff and propulsion-orientated as our road racing machines while it follows the geometry of our successful road model SCULTURA Evo. But: A SPEEDER has a straight handlebar – ideal for all bikers who want to cycle through everyday life equally with their familiar training speed and with full safety in road traffic. Because a “flatbar” does not only enable a more upright position with better overview, but also a faster grip towards the brake levers. In addition, the considerably broader tires allow also rougher SPEEDER rides without potential puncture risk on inferior back roads. A MERIDA premiere within this category is our new 2012 carbon model that can be accelerated even more easily. As a derivative of our CYCLO CROSS Carbon that was introduced successfully in 2011, the SPEEDER Carbon combines that model’s swiftness and robustness with a so far unknown suitability for daily use: Reliable V-brakes, optional fender and carrier installation plus even more rugged aluminium dropouts give carbon that certain “city chic”. Our urban racer program is expanded by the 8-speed model SPEEDER i8 whose gear hub enables quick and precise shifting without permanent thoughts about system maintenance. But for all loyal devotees of comprehensive derailleur systems, the other MERIDA SPEEDER versions offer double or triple chainrings and up to 30 gears.
