It didn’t take long for 27.5” wheels to convince riders around the world of their advantages over 26”, also in the Cross Country world. Like their “even bigger” 29er siblings, the hardtails of the BIG.SEVEN family offer noticeably more traction and smoother running over rocks and roots compared to 26” versions. Thus the range of carbon and aluminium models has been extended for 2015 – accompanied by cautious tweaking of the configurations. With the reasonably priced aluminium versions of our BIG.SEVEN models, already MTB beginners can benefit from the advantages of the still new wheel size 27.5”. You will master obstacles more easily and feel less exhausted after a long ride. Being able to run your tires with lower air pressures for more grip also improves performance in climbs as well as descends. The more expensive BIG.SEVEN models position themselves in the 2015 MERIDA product portfolio with a stronger emphasis on serious racing – for instance by MULTIVAN MERIDA BIKING TEAM pro rider Thomas Litscher. Whenever the Swiss hard-hitter competes in an UCI XCE Eliminator Sprint race, his weapon of choice is the top-of-the-line model BIG.SEVEN TEAM. Its excellent 2015 configuration includes a 15 mm thru-axle in the front and a 1x11 racing drivetrain. Together with the still ultra-light carbon frame (incl. innovative “Flex Stay” rear end for superb comfort), this again saves some noticeable weight.
