According to www.commonwealth.org, U.S. healthcare spending grew 4.3 percent in 2016, reaching $3.3 trillion or $10,348 per person. As a share of the nation's Gross Domestic Product, health spending accounted for 17.9 percent. At Mays, we are conducting research and adding teaching tracks in healthcare, and we are partnering with interdisciplinary units on the Texas A&M campus. We are intent on making an impact in this important and growing Grand Challenge area.
