The courtyard house, located on the southwest corner plot, intends to provide separation from the street and interaction amongst its neighbors. The house explores a variety of outdoor, covered, or double story atrium-like styles of courtyards to encourage the interaction between the built environment and nature. The strategic plan arranges spaces and other defining features within five-foot alignments, especially evident in plan. The first floor serves as the main public space, with a hallway connecting the somewhat secluded working space. Leading to the second floor, it houses two private bedrooms and bathrooms. The formal technique of wrapping formed by the concrete material enables definition between the two floors and an extending balcony on both sides of the bedrooms. Wood cladding continues from the exterior to the interior, maintaining a light and airy atmosphere extending to the angled roofline.
