Matthew Bissell

An Oakland native born at Oakland Kaiser Hospital in 1973, Matthew Bissell grew up in the Bay Area as the son of a longtime longshoreman and a local clothing store owner. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Pitzer College in Claremont, California, and returned to the Bay Area to build a career that has included delivery work for FedEx and UPS, caregiving, and social support in San Francisco and Oakland. Since July 2025, Matthew has been a Financial Consultant with The Broker Group, where he helps clients with life insurance and retirement planning. He is a father of two who volunteers in his children's activities and follows baseball, basketball, and football closely.
