Nonprofit Development Center

Our Nonprofit Development Center (NDC), funded by the Maryland Department of Commerce, makes Standards for Excellence Institute resources and wider learning, consulting, and technical assistance services available to small nonprofits, free of charge.

In 2021, 716 nonprofits were enrolled in the NDC, representing a 49% increase in enrolled organizations compared to the prior year. The majority of these nonprofits operated under $250,000 and with fewer than 10 employees. NDC program participants have collective budgets of roughly $26 million, employ approximately 1,500 staff, and engage over 8,450 volunteers across the state.

In 2022, the NDC will continue expanding its capacity to serve an ever-wider group of small nonprofits, prioritizing people-of-color-led nonprofits.
