oss of our normal, daily life, whether through loss of mobility, ill health, an accident or trauma, loss of a loved one, relationship breakdown, loss or change of a job or career, or even loss our beloved home; all of these experiences can shake our faith in ourselves. And right now, the entire world is shaken to its core by uncertainty and doubt during the Covid Pandemic crisis. On an unprecedented level, everyone is feeling unsure, vulnerable and shaken by this invisible and pervasive potential threat. During these times self-confidence can drop off us like rain drops falling off leaves, leaving us bare, naked and feeling vulnerable, unsure of ourselves and our place in the world suddenly. Our ego quakes in the presence of such uncertainty and when the ground beneath our feet shakes and rocks like this; when cracks appear and we begin to fall, it is easy for our self-belief to also begin to crumble. It happens a little at a time and we may not even notice it’s happening at first, but, slowly and steadily, we start to feel less confident and sure of ourselves. We enter the uncomfortable realm of doubt. We can be so shaken at times that we lose all sight of who we are; what we are capable of, and what we have previously achieved and known. We can find ourselves reverting or regressing sometimes back to the level of a helpless child, in dire need of others to look after us and comfort us, to tell us we ARE going to be okay.

Uncertainty and feeling unsure about ourselves and everything clouds our every waking moment. Our daily life is disrupted, our usual sleeping patterns, socialising, work life, everything goes to pot both in our outer world and in our inner terrain. We lose our balance.
