Manalo, Balahadia heads 37th UPM USC A-K takes majority of seats ARTHUR GERALD BANTILAN QUIRANTE The Alternative Students’ Alliance for Progress – Katipunan ng mga Progresibong Mag-aaral ng Bayan (ASAP-Katipunan) clinched five of the nine major positions in the 37th University of the Philippines Manila University Student Council (UPM USC), including the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson positions. On the other hand, Bigkis ng mga Iskolar Para sa Bayan Tungo sa Makabuluhang Pagbabago (Bigkis UPM) garnered two seats, while the remaining two were claimed by independent candidates.

CAS, CM, CN, and CPH and hoisting a margin of 744 votes against BIGKIS UPM’s Vice Chair bet Charles Kenneth Yao who got significant votes from CD and CP only.

A-K Predominance

Furthermore, John Aaron Isidro from Bigkis UPM clinched the sixth place and April Joy Baldovino, another independent candidate, landed seventh.

Cid Ryan Manalo, A-K’s Chairperson bet, successfully seized the USC Chairperson position having won in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Dentistry (CD), and College of Nursing (CN). Meanwhile, Bigkis UPM’s Chairperson bet Hannah Thea Cayabyab was 235 votes shy despite winning in College of Allied Medical Professions (CAMP), College of Medicine (CM), College of Pharmacy (CP), and College of Public Health (CPH). On the other hand, Ana Pholyn Balahadia of A-K secured the USC Vice Chair position after winning in CAMP,

Meanwhile, independent candidate Cherry Ann Lindayag grabbed the highest number of votes for USC Councilor, edging out second placer Raphael Cecillio Rodolfo from Bigkis UPM. Alfe Omaga, Gil Dominic Catalan, and Marla Rosa Julia Acuesta from A-K made it to the third, fourth, and fifth place respectively.
