Guidance Department Coláiste Bríde’s College Awareness Week took place in December. A number of activities took place across all year groups including scavenger hunts, quizzes, guest speakers and panel-talks. Following this our students who are completing their Leaving Certificate in June had the chance to attend Maynooth University’s Open Day. On December 4th the school held our College Fair with representatives attending from all of the main universities in the greater Dublin area. We also had three of our local Colleges of Further Education in attendance. Our Fifth and Sixth Years had the opportunity to discuss their potential future options with college representatives and gain insights into their many courses on offer. Many of our Sixth Years have opened their CAO accounts and we remind those who hope to do so, that it is best to do this now while the fee is lower. Other students are waiting for applications to open for a number of apprenticeships, traineeships and PLC courses in Colleges of Further Education. We urge all of our Sixth Years to continue their research to find the pathway that will suit them best. Young Scientist: The school would like to wish Tegan Timmons the very best of luck with her Young Scientist Ireland entry. YSI’s exhibition and competition takes place in the RDS in January and Tegan has worked with Teen Turn to produce a her work on “Nutritr1ac4k rethinking healthy eating”. Best of luck Tegan!

Camino Bhríde
By Grace Duffy, 1st Year Rang Naoise At the start of December Rang Naoise, Rang Niamh and Rang Oisín went on a trip to Kildare that our school calls the Camino Bhríde and I’m going to explain it all to you. The other First Year Classes went in October. First, we all met up (in school) and we’re split into 2 groups, Rang Naoise was split into 2 groups. One with Rang Oisín and one with Rang Niamh. I was with rang Oisín so I’m going to tell you my story about being with them. So first everyone went to St. Brigid’s Cathedral, where St. Brigid had her Monastery and some of us got to climb the Round Tower. I was one of those people who got to climb the tower. It was real fun but getting down was scary, but I made it down in the end, so it was fine. Next, we went to Solas Bhríde, and we were shown pictures of the place. It was the shape of a Saint Brigid’s cross it was cool and I enjoyed it (this is where we also ate our lunches.) Then, we went to St. Brigid’s Garden Well which was only down the road, a few very funny and fun things happened at said well. We saw a Statue of St. Brigid. Then we went to this church it was big its name was St. St. Brigid's Parish church, Kildare. We saw a piece of Saint Brigid’s skull in a little paper tree it was cool, If I can remember clearly I think it’s called a relic. The teachers asked us about some of the items in the church. After this we went to a shop to get food. Then we went to the Heritage Centre where a guy told us all about how Kildare and Saint Brigid. It was cool if I say so myself. We got these little books about it. Finally, we went back to Coláiste Bríde on the bus. by Grace Duffy first year, Rang Naoise

Ms Keogh’s Agricultural Science class enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to the National Ploughing Championships. Students had the opportunity to see modern farming practices firsthand, explore the latest agricultural machinery and technology, and engage with exhibitors from across the agri-food sector. The visit brought classroom learning to life and gave students valuable insight into the wide range of careers and innovations within agriculture.
