THE 2023/24 junior tennis season consisted of almost 200 players from 11 clubs across the Latrobe Valley. The Latrobe Valley Tennis Association had nine sections this season, with players aged six to 18 years competing. “The matches this year were closer than ever”, LVTA President, Sally Kirstine said. “Approximately 20 per cent of the
matches each week were decided by game difference”. The Hotshots sections, with modified rules and low compression balls, enables tennis to be accessible to the younger children. All players need to be congratulated for their efforts and sportsmanship throughout the season, along with all of the club volunteers and coordinators who assisted at the various clubs. The Grand Finals were held on Saturday, March 23. “We had great weather and some exceptionally close matches, with a couple of sections being decided by tie-break playoffs - just what a Grand Final should be," Kirstine said.
