CHECK IN HOTEL CLIO
The former JW Marriott Denver Cherry Creek hotel emerged from an expansive renovation this spring with a reimagined concept, name and interior aesthetic. Designed by Mark Wilson and Yoko Ishihara of California-based Wilson Ishihara, the new Hotel Clio—part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Luxury Collection—nods to the gold-rush era with contemporary decor. In the lobby, a screen of interlocking brass and stainless-steel slats defines the registration area, and light fixtures inspired by gold miners’ lamps illuminate the check-in desks. Brass-bordered marble floor tiles carry the gold-dusted theme into an adjacent lounge, where the designers lined a fireplace wall in gold-veined white marble. In spacious guest rooms and suites, the glamour—and a palette of soft blush, green and sand tones—continues, creating an air of sophisticated serenity. At the property’s new restaurant, Toro Latin Kitchen & Lounge, colors deepen to rich hues of caramel and cocoa—the better to complement chef Richard Sandoval’s intensely flavorful menu of Pan-Latin cuisine. hotelcliocherrycreek.com
