Elijio “Joe” Briceño was much loved by his brother Eudaldo “Dali” Briceño, sisters Anita Perera and Nellie Cattouse, children John, Jaime, Jorge, Javier, Sergio, Ricardo, Elijio Jr., Gladys, Vanessa and Maritza, 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He is predeceased by his wife Ramona Briceño, brother Eulalio, Leopoldo, Graciano Briceño, sisters Matilda and Clodi Briceño, and Dina Cantun. An official funeral was held on Wednesday, 25 May 2016, at 2:00pm at La Inmaculada Church, Orange Walk Town. Interment followed at the Piemonte Cemetery. Perhaps my Time seem all too brief. This afternoon, some of Humes’ family members showed up at court, after they had received the news that he was scheduled to make an appearance before Justice Adolph Lucas and that he would likely be sent home. Inside the court room, after Humes’ attorney Anthony Sylvestre Jr. had said a few words to Judge Lucas, the judge was ready to explain to Humes that the state does not have evidence to continue the murder charge against him, so he is being released. Outside the court, Humes’ family hugged him and quickly whisked him away from the court area in a car that had suddenly pulled up in front of the court. Humes’ attorney Sylvester explained to court reporters that the Crown had a weak case and he has tried to get bail for his client, when he realized that there was no evidence against him. The court would not grant bail for fear that they might open the flood gates, Sylvestre explained.
