Welcome Welcome to San Antonio Cocktail Conference 2016 . It’s hard for us to believe that it’s been 5 years since the management team at Bohanan’s and their bar consultant, Sasha Petraske conceived of a cocktail festival in San Antonio. Strong in their conviction that this event had to result in charitable giving, they also were convinced that they had the partners and community to build an important week of parties, seminars and tastings that could educate the public, while elevating the cocktail culture in San Antonio. With an ever expanding list of ticket opportunities, the Cocktail Conference has grown to be an important part of the city’s event calendar and the country’s cocktail calendar! Each year Houston Street Charities hosts the San Antonio Cocktail Conference to create the ultimate cocktail experience—combining the most beautiful venues in town, wonderful music, and a roster of celebrated chefs to produce five days of events and a week of paired dinners. Most important is our gift to charity. With over $365,000 in charitable donations to children’s causes in the first four years, the San Antonio Cocktail Conference remains committed to this Houston Street Charities tradition. Profits from this year’s conference will benefit The Children’s Shelter, ChildSafe, Clarity Child Guidance Center, TeamAbility and Transplants for Children. Thank you to our supporters—our donors, volunteer staff, spirit sponsors and partners—and the incredible ticket holders that make each and every Cocktail Conference event so much fun!

Cheers!

AND IMBIBING JUST A BIT! Cinco Vodka is one of the most drinkable vodkas you will ever experience. Made with American Winter Wheat and distilled in a hand-hammered copper pot still, the vodka is so clean that there’s no need for filtering. The wheat acts to balance the vodka while leaving it smooth and sweet throughout the entire palette.

sasha petraske

When Sasha Petraske opened his first bar, Milk and Honey, on the lower east side, he brought a cocktail style and a bar etiquette that would go on to inspire bar professionals and engage the public for years to come. Milk and Honey in 1999 was just the beginning. Sasha had a desire to instill the cocktail culture with a sense of sophistication. His cocktails were carefully and expertly crafted, reminiscent of a pre-Prohibition era. His role in this cocktail revival would help inspire others to open bars like this all over the world, and despite his early death in August 2015, Sasha will continue to be a remarkable force in our cocktail scene. It was Sasha who said that he would help put together the first Cocktail Conference if it was about charitable giving. And so was born the San Antonio Cocktail Conference in January of 2012. With Sasha’s guidance, tutelage, and passion, the conference has continued to grow, and in his footsteps, it too has found an important place on the cocktail map. We will continue to embrace Sasha’s sense of style in all of our events and activities, and we will remain committed to our mission, Pouring our Hearts Out, supporting children’s charities each year. Cheers, Mr. Petraske. You are missed every day.

January 14 – 17, 2016 Downtown San Antonio

Agave (Beso, Spanish for ‘kiss’) is the perfect name for the 2016 SACC Signature Cocktail. Agave is known in Mexico as aguamiel, or “honey water”. The Aztecs prized the agave as a gift from the gods and used the liquid from its core to flavor food and drinks. And so this Beso de Agave is golden, and our gift to you as an expression of our affection!

Beso de Agave 1 oz. Milagro Reposado

Barspoon Agave Nectar

1 oz. Montelobos

Ginger Beer

1 1/2 oz. Pineapple Juice

Ancho Reyes

3/4 oz. Fresh Lime Juice

Mint Sprig for Garnish

Combine Milagro, Montelobos, pineapple juice, lime juice, and agave nectar in a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into an ice-filled Collins glass and add ginger beer. Top with an Ancho Reyes float. Garnish with a mint sprig.

Houston Street Charities

Houston Street Charities is an organization committed to supporting children’s causes in San Antonio through the San Antonio Cocktail Conference and other smaller events. The Cocktail Conference was the first of its kind in Texas, but the concept is nothing new. In fact, there are various models across the country. But what makes the SACC different from the rest is that 100% of the profits are divided among selected children’s charities each year. More than $355,000 has been donated in its first four years, and Houston Street Charities will continue to dedicate the profits from San Antonio Cocktail Conference to supporting children’s charities.
