Ò When the last loose ends of any projects I was busy with this week are behind me, Shabbat dinner cooking occupies the rest of the afternoon and early evening hours. We usually stay in for a family meal after which we all just hang out.

Ò The week starts off pretty hectic with school schedule for my four children. Breakfast, lunch bags, and drop-offs are a daily scene. Once that’s all done, I review the project’s progress and my ongoing to-do list and the phone calls and emails start to rain. A lunch break is key to relax the mind and soul and my favorite lunch spot is Pedaler’s Fork in Calabasas. The tomato bisque and grilled cheese sandwich is divine with a nice bottle of Pellegrino. Then, back for pick-ups, homework assignments, after school programs, gymnastics and finally home for a freshly cooked dinner, some wine and bedtime for all. pedalersfork.com

Ò Once the morning routine is behind me, I go for a three mile run around the Calabasas lake. This is a great workout I need for both the body and soul. When I get home, it’s back to the drawing board with design and drafting for which ever project is at the development phase. Occasional lunch at The Local Peasant with a client or a friend is always a treat. thelocalpeasant.com

Ò Weekly job site meetings with clients and contractors occur to review progress and design related dilemmas. On the way back I head over to Trader Joe’s for their fresh produce and frozen treats because unfortunately groceries won’t buy themselves. My girls have a long gymnastics class and going to dinner with the kids at ROSTI is not uncommon. This is a gem for local families with great Italian food for big and small alike.

Ò As the work week is almost over it’s time to make some follow-up calls to engineers and consultants and at times a visit to the local building department to review or clear a project permit. I sometimes like to squeeze in an early afternoon class at the The Dailey Method before the regular pickups. thedaileymethod.com

Ò Sometimes we sleep in and others we go for a hike at the Santa Monica mountains. The views are always breathtaking and the hike is a good all-family activity. We like to grab some BBQ at Wood Ranch where the kids love the mashed potatoes and I always order the sliders with a side of peanut coleslaw. Date night with my husband is my favorite part of the week (no kids allowed). Dinner at Toscanova or sushi at Sugar Fish at ‘The Commons’ and a movie are a great way to catch up and spend some time together.

Ò Occasional mani/pedi at my local nail salon. We often have family related events and parties to attend but, if not, then a BBQ and a swim in our pool with some friends is what we prefer. My husband makes the best Piña-Colada and sangrias with a virgin version for the kids to enjoy, too!
