welcome!

On behalf of Lakeside Lutheran, welcome to our campus for the 21st Warrior LES Basketball Tournament. We are excited to be hosting your team, coaches, and fans. We pray that the weekend brings many close games, opportunities for Christian fellowship, and fun-filled memories. Throughout the weekend, our players, coaches, and staff are here to help. If you have any needs or concerns that arise during your time here, please do not hesitate to ask.

Interscholastic activities are educationbased, and as such, we ask that players, coaches, and fans cheer positively for their teams and practice great sportsmanship. The lessons and values that kids learn through participation far exceed and endure much longer than any win or loss. Sports elicit the highest of emotions in all of us, but please, at all times, exhibit respect for officials and model positive behavior and support for your teams. Enjoy the games, cheer for your team, and thank the Lord for the blessings of Christian schools and the opportunity to play basketball.

As you spend time on campus, feel free to make your visit informational as well. If you have questions or would like to tour the facility, contact any staff member or coach and we will gladly walk you around. We also have informational brochures available about LLHS, Warrior summer camps, and Jr. Warrior youth programs. We are here to serve you. Again, a warm welcome to all and God’s blessings on your tournament experience. Todd Jahns, Activities Director

recruiting? you bet! . . . for christian education

If you came to the tournament this weekend hoping to see your son or daughter approached by a Lakeside coach and encouraged to come to Lakeside because of his or her athletic ability, you’re going to go home disappointed. WIAA rules prohibit the recruitment of students for athletic reasons.

Does such recruitment of grade school athletes by high school coaches take place? Rumors say it does. Maybe some of you could tell stories. Such contact can be quite flattering and thus effective. After all, we see how exciting it is for our high school athletes (and their parents) when they get recruited by college coaches. There are several reasons why you won’t see it going on here:

1) It’s against WIAA rules. Such violations would put your son’s or daughter’s eligibility at risk.

2) Such violations could warrant WIAA sanctions that might put at risk the ability of the rest of our students and teams to participate in WIAA sponsored events.

3) It would not be true to the mission of Lakeside Lutheran High School.

Motivated by the love of Jesus, Lakeside Lutheran High School partners with families to educate, encourage, and equip students for life and for eternity. Lakeside Lutheran High School nurtures the faith of our students through a Christ-centered education that emphasizes the grace of God in Christ and lives of Christian service in the home, the church and society. What an awesome mission! What an opportunity for teens and their parents! We can and do make every effort to recruit students and families interested in Christian education.
