Celebrating Jesus is the best gift. He is the only real gift that keeps on giving. At Lakeside we get to celebrate Jesus every day. We are so thankful for all the ways you have supported us this year. We are grateful for your gifts, prayers, encouraging notes and conversations. If we are truly honest, we realize that even with all our blessings, unfortunately, every day does not feel like Christmas. Sometimes our hearts are filled with complaining and unhappiness. That is why it is so important to spend daily time with Jesus. When our hearts are filled with, and focused on, gratitude, we find contentment and joy. What a valuable gift that we have been taught the truth of Jesus! Those truths about our Savior don’t just impact our hope for eternity; they also impact our faith-life every day. In the coming year, may our thoughts, words, and actions be witnesses and serve as examples to the world that HE is indeed the best gift.
Thank you for helping us share the true meaning and message of Christmas all year long.

Giving Tuesday On #GivingTuesday—Dec. 3, 2019—YOU made a difference! You raised $10,184 for our #givingTREESday campaign. This directly impacts our campus beautification with the primary goal of replacing 16 mature trees that were destroyed by the emerald ash borer.

The Lakeside Effect Mr. Eric Dorn Before I came to Lakeside, I really didn’t know much about it. I knew people who had attended, but I never asked many questions. When I accepted the call to teach here, I was blown away. The faculty is helpful, positive, and supportive—things much desired by a newer teacher in the field. The school environment as a whole is friendly and welcoming. The students impress me with their words and actions and overall attitudes. One of the greatest things about Lakeside is the opportunity to hear God’s Word every single day, and I get to teach it! I love being able to read and discuss the Bible with my 104 sophomores. That exposure to Christ’s love shows itself in many ways, but I especially see it in my players as boys’ soccer coach. Many times, I’ve received comments from referees or coaches about the quality of the young men I have as they represent their school and Savior out on the field. The same could be said of many of our students that are involved in the countless activities available at this school whether athletic, academic, or arts. Lakeside helps students grow in their faith and in their confidence to show that faith to the outside world. I feel very blessed to be a part of it. Eric graduated from Illinois Lutheran High School in 2013. After studying business for two years at Wisconsin Lutheran College, he transferred to Martin Luther College to get his teaching degree. He graduated in 2018 and taught 3rd-grade at St. John’s Lutheran Primary School in Antigua. He is in the middle of a one-year call to teach sophomore religion and coach soccer.

Rho
Fellowship
Members of the Rho Fellowship, with the Lord’s guidance, have provided multiple gifts totaling less than $1,000 within the last year to Lakeside Lutheran High School. The Greek letters Rho and Chi form the symbol for Christ. This symbol, displayed in the center of our school seal, serves as a reminder that Christ is the center of our faith at Lakeside. Through this faith we return our blessings to continue His work. As a thank you for your gifts, we offer you membership in the Rho Fellowship, a subscription to The Legacy, and also invite you to attend the fellowship events that have been planned for you. It’s a climate. That climate is a practice field or a court of play where coach and players have learned to trust and respect each other. In defeat and victory, character is built. God has placed Christian role models together with Christian athletes. In the intensity of sport, they together learn that Christ is what truly matters most. It’s a climate. That climate is a hallway where sinful behavior collides with loving rebukes. It’s a hallway where tears of hurt are met by words of joy and love. It’s a hallway where greetings and fist bumps are genuine expressions that we are all glad to see each other. It’s a hallway where students and staff lift each other up. They are the face of Jesus to each other every day. It’s a climate. That climate guards and guides our online activity to the best of our ability. We expect a disciplined use of every information highway. We strive to see that Christ permeates our constant communications and that his love covers a multitude of all our sins. It’s a climate. That climate is a classroom where students and instructor learn to trust and respect each other. It’s a climate where moments of great learning, planned or unexpected, happen because God has placed his children into settings of excellence and love. It’s a climate. Christ-centered education is not just offered at Lakeside. From chapel to parking lots, the words of Jesus saturate the plans of every lesson, the activities of every club and team, the voices of every hallway and, most importantly, the hearts and minds of everyone in the building. It is a promise of Jesus we take seriously: “...where two or three have gathered together in my name, there I am among them.” Pastor Helwig joined the faculty in 2018. He teaches 12th grade Religion classes, including Christian Apologetics and Christian Relationships, and some 11th grade Church History. He also serves as our Operation Go mission trip program administrator. Pastor Helwig enjoys contributing to the LL climate, whether by talking to congregations about LL Operation GO (left) or developing student leaders in worship opportunities (chapel music, right).

Fellowship
Members of the Kentro Fellowship have offered a gift or returned a commitment card to Lakeside Lutheran High School of $1,000 or more for the year. The Greek word, Kentro, meaning center, leads us to reflect on Christ as the center of our lives. Through Him we receive these blessings and are encouraged to offer them up to His glory. held its annual volunteer dinner in October. It’s a way to say thank you to the 100+ who make it possible to remain 100% volunteer-staffed, an extreme rarity among stores of its kind. Total store sales since 1993: $7,591,417 (as of Sept. 30, 2019) Total gifts to LLHS: $5,308,670, or 70% Wishlist items provided in Sept. 2019: • $22K cafeteria table replacement • $15K 2nd installment computer lab desktop computers • $8K 2nd installment surveillance cameras for buildings and grounds • $5K toward Operation Go mission trips • $1K rollerskate rental for a new PhyEd unit
In December, Good Stewards, Inc. Board President Jim Buelow reported: • November sales of $77,272 were 1.1% higher than Nov. 2018 • October 2019 sales hit a new monthly record at $79,246 • These two months rank #1 and #2 in the store’s 26-year history • YTD ‘19 sales are $657,140 compared to 2018 YTD of $614,210, up $42,030 or 7% • the mortgage on the 2015 addition is expected to be paid in full by February 2020
