Terminology Unique to This System In the pages to follow, you will interact with new terms, as well as familiar terms that will have changed in the context of this work. In order to prevent confusion, I offer a short list of terms that will help you to navigate the following chapters. ark: The overall collection of eidolon entries in your tome; it is the list of eidolons that you have made contact with or are beginning to become aware of. eidolon: An independent thoughtform that you might interpret as a manifestation of your own subconscious or as an independent, externally extant intelligence inhabiting a nonphysical dimension. emblem: Analogous to a spell, an emblem is called such as it is a marker of an agreement made with an eidolon; it is also a trigger to evoke a certain effect. gate: A gate is a pattern used to create and sustain a lasting effect in a space or object. inner host: The eighteen eidolons contained in this book and understood to be known by all magicians whose practices are based, however loosely, on the techniques found in this book. 4
