Live Atlas | Watch The Earth Breathe, Move And Erupt Live

France

Live Atlas is a free interactive globe that shows what the Earth is doing right now. Earthquakes from the last 24 hours appear within minutes, active volcanoes are confirmed by official sources, and cyclones, hurricanes and satellite-detected wildfires update throughout the day. When the night sky lights up, the auroras layer shows where they can be seen. Beneath the live events lies the machinery that drives them. The tectonic plates are drawn with their boundaries and the direction they move, and more than 9,000 active faults appear as you zoom in. The relief of the continents and the seafloor is rendered in detail, with the 27% of the ocean floor that has actually been mapped highlighted, and every known volcano on Earth can be shown, not just the ones erupting today. For a wider view, Earth Today displays yesterday's NASA satellite image of the whole planet, so you can see clouds, storms and smoke as they really looked from space.
