Details from work by Madhumita Sen, on view in the Syosset Library Gallery through June. A neurobiologist, artist, and art instructor, Madhumita Sen explores the intersection of science and artistic creativity with a fine balance of structured and unstructured patterns similar to the patterns found in nature. “Through my art, I hope to spread happiness and joy, encouraging my audience to appreciate the simplicity and complexity of nature,” she says. Working with acrylic and mixed media, Ms. Sen pushes the boundaries of her own creativity and experiments with new techniques and materials. Her works are colorful, bold, and vibrant. She also focuses on abstract expression using fluid art and other techniques and recycled household materials in some of her works. “I like to bring out the connections
between art and science,” she says. “In my artwork, I project the optical illusion, three dimensional ideas, perspectives, and symmetry, thereby expressing scientific knowledge through art.” As an art instructor, Ms. Sen is committed to nurturing and growing the talent of young artists and empowering them with the tools and techniques to express themselves through art. “Creativity is essential to human development, and I am blessed to be able to contribute to the growth and enrichment of my students.” Syosset Library is located at 225 South Oyster Bay Road in Syosset.
