hat could be better than two traffic-free miles full of free health and wellness resources, join-in fitness and sports demonstrations, fresh produce, music, dance, art, and kid’s activities on a Sunday afternoon? Not much—unless it’s part of a whole weekend of fun.
What, Where, and When is Streets Alive!? Streets Alive!, our FREE annual outdoor movement festival, encourages people to get off the couch and get moving by lining the streets with nearly 100 exhibitors, performers, and active fun for the whole family. Family, pet, and wheelchair-friendly, people of all ages and abilities can enjoy a great Sunday afternoon where they can walk, run, bike, skate, push a stroller, or propel a wheelchair throughout the route. Streets Alive! is a mobile festival, changing neighborhoods every two years. This year and next, the festival will be hosted by the South Salt Creek/Cooper Park Neighborhood on Sunday, September 22, from 1–4:30 pm. Visitors can enter or exit anywhere along the route.

What’s New at Streets Alive!? Every year, new organizations join our exhibitor line-up offering great information in a fun and interactive way. Favorite entertainers come back and new ones sign on. New this year, talented musicians from the Cooper Park neighborhood will entertain using their front porches as a stage. “Porchfest” will complement professional musicians, including some of the performers from the Lincoln Calling Music Festival. Artists and children from the neighborhood and other featured Lincoln artists will display their talents in an “Art Walk” coordinated by the Lincoln Arts Festival. Farmer’s markets with fresh produce and food trucks with tasty and healthy food will delight your taste buds.

September 22, South Salt Creek/South Downtown area HealthyLincoln.org An outdoor movement festival that cordons off a section of Lincoln so people can play in the streets! We encourage everyone to bike, walk, skate, or trolley between these special events to enjoy a beautiful, active, and festive week. Don’t own a bike? BikeLNK will have their mobile bike rental stations within the festival locations. Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln (PHL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health, wellness, and fitness of our community. We collaborate with other organizations on joint projects to improve health by increasing physical fitness, promoting healthy weights and good nutrition, supporting breastfeeding, improving vaccination and cancer screening rates, and improving patient outreach.
