editor’s letter

It’s hard to believe we are already nearing the end of 2025. I’m not quite sure how that happened or where the year has gone, but what a busy year it has been for our industry so far.

Last month saw the return of Harrogate International Nursery Fair, and while the floorplan was slightly more refined this year, the show certainly didn’t disappoint. From car seats and sleep solutions to furniture, feeding and wheeled goods, every category was represented. The halls buzzed with energy, ideas and connections, offering visitors an invaluable opportunity to explore the latest trends, take part in hands-on demonstrations and discover new products that will shape the market in the months ahead.

Retailers and suppliers alike spoke highly of the event. As John Barker from Pramland reflects in his article over on page 22,

This month we bring you a full review of Harrogate Int Nursery Fair starting on page 24, capturing the atmosphere and highlights together with a selection of products from the event within our Stars of the Show.

“Despite a smaller footprint, the halls were full of brands all showing some great new products and innovations. It’s always an important show for making connections and seeing what’s coming next.”

There was plenty of innovation to see.

For example, Red Kite unveiled their latest additions, products galore were showcased by Joie with versadrift and mydrift being stars of the show and taking centre stage during Harrogate. BeSafe impressed visitors with new developments on the Voski Carry Me and Huddle carriers, while Hauck celebrated an incredible milestone with the 50th anniversary of the Alpha+ highchair. Nora Baby showcased Welldon’s pioneering car seat technology, while Cozy N Safe drew crowds with their Cygnus i-Size featuring unique folding technology. BabyStyle presented their new Oyster Vee and also showcased their collaboration with the Aston Martin egg3, and CuddleCo caught attention with its beautifully designed furniture collections that combine style, sustainability and practicality. Everywhere you looked there was something new to see (far too many to mention here, but you can find out more within our show review starting over on page 24).Leading brands also praised the spirit of the event.

iCandy described Harrogate as “a fantastic opportunity to connect face-to-face with our extended family of valued retail partners,” while Nuna told us how “the show continues to provide an important platform to showcase design, innovation and care at the heart of everything we do.”

Show organiser Adrian Sneyd summed it up perfectly, saying: “It has without doubt been a difficult year for the UK nursery industry, but Harrogate

International Nursery Fair demonstrates how businesses all pull together to not only support each other but also this important and only UK nursery trade event. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Harrogate in 2026.”

Make sure you pop 18th to 20th October 2026 into your diaries, as it is already shaping up with exhibitors rebooking.

Naturally, this month we bring you a full review of the Fair starting on page 24, capturing the atmosphere and highlights together with a selection from the event within our Stars of the Show.

We also shine a spotlight on the infant sleep category, focusing on mattresses, bedside cribs and evolving sleep solutions. We caught up with both Nursery Connections and Prestige Sleep to discuss what makes their ranges stand out. As Jack Nijjar, Managing Director of Prestige Sleep, explained, “Every Prestige Sleep mattress is built around safety, comfort and longevity. We’re proud to give parents real peace of mind.” Our Cover Star this month, Nursery Connections, also spoke about their commitment to innovation and sustainability, ensuring their products adapt and grow with families.

Elsewhere, you’ll find product spotlights on both the Bedside Cribs and Wheeled Goods categories, featuring a fantastic selection of lines available to order now, all ready to inspire retailers planning for the season ahead.

Adding to this packed issue, we catch up with CYBEX UK & Ireland, a brand enjoying a year of exciting growth. With a new office and showroom, changes within the team and a string of prestigious award wins, CYBEX is ending

2025 on a real high. Turn to page 8 to read more about their journey and plans for the year ahead.

Finally, don’t miss next month’s annual Car Seat Supplement, our most comprehensive of the year. If you would like to be involved, please email me or contact Katy Bensley at  katy@lemapublishing.co.uk.

Axkid UP achieves top results in ADAC 2025

Axkid proudly announces that its latest forward-facing child car seat, Axkid UP, has achieved top results in the 2025 ADAC child car seat test, earning an overall rating of “Good” (2.0). The seat demonstrated outstanding performance across all key categories—safety, ergonomics, handling, and chemical testing—underlining Axkid’s continued leadership in child safety innovation.

ADAC, Europe’s leading independent test institute for child car seats, evaluates dozens of models each year under rigorous conditions. In the autumn 2025 test, Axkid UP achieved top results across all categories, securing a leading position among all tested forward-facing seats. Its strong performance would also have placed it among the top results of the spring 2025 test, con rming that Axkid UP is one of the safest forward-facing child car seats on the market.

“We are very pleased with Axkid UP’s strong result in this year’s ADAC test,” says Anton Wall, Vide President at Axkid. “The 2025 test included stricter protocols and tougher crash scenarios, so achieving a ‘Good’ rating is an important recognition of our development work — especially as only 5 out of 16 tested seats reached that level.” www.axkid.com

Best-in-class Safety in ADAC for the BeSafe Beyond System

In the ADAC Autumn 2025 test, the BeSafe Beyond 360 was tested on the Beyond Base and delivered outstanding results, earning a best-in-class safety rating as the safest 360 child car seat of 2025.

This impressive performance builds on the already excellent results from 2024, when both the Beyond and Go Beyond seats were tested and praised.

With these results combined, BeSafe can now proudly say that the entire Beyond system has proven itself in ADAC’s demanding crash tests. Despite the tougher testing conditions introduced in 2025, Beyond seats continue to stand out for their safety and innovation – giving parents even more con dence in choosing Beyond for their child’s protection.

Beyond-system Test Winner!

In 2024, the BeSafe Beyond won the toddler category in the ADAC test with an exceptional safety score of 1.3 and a total rating of 1.8. It was the only rear-facing seat for children up to 125 cm to achieve such outstanding results.

In the stricter 2025 ADAC test, the BeSafe Beyond 360 continued the success story with a strong safety score of 2.0 and a total rating of 2.4, making it the highest-rated 360-rotating seat of the year. Notably, it was also the only rotating seat tested with the larger Q6 crash test dummy, representing a 6-year-old child, a clear testament to its extended protection in real-life scenarios.

BeSafe are proud of this lightweight, innovative seat, which features rotation on an ISO x base and their Universal Level Technology. This ensures the seat maintains the same safe angle in any car, making the ADAC test results more relevant to real-life use.

Choosing the right mattress is one of the most important decisions new parents make, and with growing awareness around safe sleep, this category continues to evolve.

Guided by The Lullaby Trust’s recommendations for rm, at and breathable sleep surfaces, brands are developing mattresses that combine comfort, safety, and sustainability to meet parents’ expectations and ease anxiety.

Natural and breathable materials are starting to lead this nursery product category. Coconut coir cores, paired with GOTS-certi ed organic cotton covers, provide rm support and excellent air ow, helping to regulate temperature and reduce overheating which are two key factors in promoting safer sleep. Parents are also increasingly drawn to dual-sided mattresses, featuring a rmer side for newborns and a softer surface for toddlers, o ering both longevity and adaptability as their child grows.

Retailers who stock thoughtfully designed, safety-led mattresses can build strong connections with parents seeking trust and reassurance. Highlighting natural materials, sustainability credentials, and compliance with safe sleep guidance not only supports informed choices but also positions retailers as reliable experts.

As parental awareness continues to rise, the infant mattress category remains a cornerstone of the nursery industry where innovation, safety, and peace of mind meet in every night’s sleep.

Comfort, Craft and Credibility

Prestige Sleep’s Managing Director Jack Nijjar discusses how the company’s dedication to British manufacturing, breathable design and ethical sourcing ensures every infant mattress delivers genuine comfort, safety and long-lasting trust for both parents and retailers.

What speci c features of your infant mattresses address parents’ top safety and comfort concerns?

Every Prestige Sleep mattress is built around safety, comfort and longevity. Each one provides a rm, at surface that meets BS EN 16890 and BS 18700 standards, ensuring correct spinal support and consistent edge stability. Our dual-sided design o ers a softer newborn side and a rmer toddler side, extending the mattress’s lifespan. Hypoallergenic fabrics and naturally breathable bres such as British wool and coconut coir regulate temperature and reduce allergens. Every mattress is hand-assembled in Kent and precision-checked to guarantee lasting quality.

How do your mattresses promote breathability and reduce overheating? Breathability is central to our design philosophy. Our Airfresh Technology uses a mesh fabric that allows air to ow through the surface and out of the sides, maintaining constant ventilation. This natural air ow regulates temperature year-round and prevents bacterial growth and dust mites. Beneath the mesh, layers of British wool wick moisture while coconut coir adds rm, breathable support, creating a drier, fresher sleep environment for safer, longer rest.

Which fabrics and surface nishes do you use and what are their bene ts for baby skin and easy cleaning?

We use soft natural cotton and certi ed organic cotton twill for breathability and chemical-free comfort. Around 40 per cent of our range includes a discreet waterproof layer for quick, hygienic cleaning, and removable stocking-net covers make middle-of-the-night changes simpler. Every textile is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certi ed and hypoallergenic, ensuring it’s safe and gentle for even the most sensitive skin.

What independent accreditations or standards do your mattresses meet?

All Prestige Sleep mattresses are tested in UKASaccredited labs to BS EN 16890 and BS 18700 safety standards. Our fabrics carry OEKO-TEX certi cation and as SEDEX-audited members we meet global benchmarks for ethical and sustainable sourcing.

We’re also the only UK nursery mattress manufacturer to hold the Made in Britain certi cation, a rigorous eight-month audit that veri es every process and material. For parents and retailers, it’s visible proof of quality, traceability and trust.

Are your mattresses manufactured in Great Britain throughout, and how does that in uence quality and sustainability?

Yes, every mattress is hand-assembled in our Kent factory using over 99 per cent UK-sourced materials, with only one specialist spring imported from

Breathability is central to our design philosophy. Our Airfresh Technology uses a mesh fabric that allows air to ow through the surface and out of the sides, maintaining constant ventilation.

Poland. Local manufacturing gives us total quality control, shorter lead times and minimal transport miles. Combined with precision-cut, zero-waste production, it’s a model that supports British jobs, reduces emissions and provides reliable supply even during global disruptions.

What support do you provide nursery retailers to help them sell e ectively?

We see our retailers as partners. We o er detailed product training that helps sta explain bene ts like dual-sided support, breathability and sustainability in parent-friendly terms. Our marketing package includes point-of-sale materials, display units, imagery and digital content for websites or social media. A dedicated support team and feedback programme ensure retailers always have expert help on hand.

What are the commercial bene ts to retailers and how do your programmes drive sales? Retailers gain a tangible point of di erence: handcrafted, Made in Britain-certi ed mattresses that meet the highest safety and sustainability standards. Parents can see and feel the quality, the air ow in the fabric, the rmness of the core, which builds instant trust. We reinforce that with co-branded marketing and a stable UK supply chain, giving partners con dence in pricing and availability. Simply put, we help retailers o er mattresses that sell on substance, built for babies, trusted by parents and proudly British.

Built To Breathe, Made To Last

From foam cores to airflow innovation – how Prestige Sleep’s Airfresh technology is redefining breathability, safety and trust in nursery mattresses for a new generation of parents and retailers.

When it comes to nursery mattresses, design has come a long way since the days of PVC covers and dense foam interiors. In the 1980s, baby mattresses were built to wipe clean, not to breathe – often trapping heat, moisture and odours in the process.

Today, parents understand what their baby sleeps on can affect everything from comfort to safety. Retailers have adapted too, recognising that safety credentials, material transparency and breathability are more than just “nice-to-haves”.

A Changing Standard Of Safety

Advances in research around Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and infant overheating have shaped the modern nursery mattress more than any design trend. In the UK, the

Free of any harmful chemicals

introduction of stricter standards such as BS EN 16890 and BS 18700 has driven innovation across the industry, setting clear rules for firmness, fit and material safety.

These standards build on lessons from the past – when foam mattresses were prone to sagging and heat retention. Over time, it became clear that breathability was just as crucial as support. Babies need a firm, flat surface that allows air to circulate freely, helping to regulate body temperature and reduce the risk of overheating.

That’s why leading manufacturers have shifted focus from chemically treated foams to naturally breathable fibres and open-cell structures.

And it’s here that Prestige Sleep’s innovative Airfresh technology mattress range is setting a new benchmark.

Prestige Sleep’s fibre-based cores and breathable mesh fabrics resist discolouration and odour entirely. They stay fresh without the use of harsh chemicals or flame-retardant sprays. The structure of each fibre encourages airflow, keeping the internal core dry and helping the mattress maintain its shape.

Airfresh – A Safer Way For Babies To Sleep

First introduced five years ago and now used across the majority of Prestige Sleep’s range, Airfresh is a complete rethink of how air moves through a mattress.

Lovingly hand-made in the UK

At its core is a 3D mesh system that allows air to travel in through the sleep surface and out through the sides. The design helps keep babies cool in summer and warm in winter.

“The Airfresh fabric acts like a miniature ventilation network,” explains Kishan Nijjar, Sales and Marketing Manager at Prestige Sleep. “Air flows in and out of the mattress continuously, reducing the chance of heat build-up, sweat and bacteria growth. It even makes the mattress safer for babies who roll onto their fronts because the surface itself is fully breathable.”

Airfresh technology helps prevent up to 90 per cent of bacterial growth while allowing moisture to dissipate quickly, a

ideal conditions for bacterial build-up.

key improvement over traditional quilted or foam-filled covers. For parents, that means a fresher, cleaner sleeping environment. For retailers, it means a story of genuine innovation grounded in safety.

Learning From The Past, Designing For The Future

In earlier decades, foam interiors and thick quilted fabrics were standard but these materials trapped heat and humidity, creating

Kishan added: “We were among the first to use this technology in nursery mattresses and while others have followed, we’ve refined the process.”

From Craftsmanship To Science

Each Airfresh mattress is still handassembled in Prestige Sleep’s Kent factory. The breathable cover is stretched and fitted by skilled craftspeople to preserve the integrity of the mesh. Beneath it, layers of Britishsourced wool and coconut coir provide natural insulation and support.

More than 99 per cent of components are UK-made, with suppliers carefully vetted under SEDEX ethical standards. This short, transparent supply chain means fewer transport miles and stronger quality control. It’s also one reason Prestige Sleep remains the only nursery mattress manufacturer certified by Made in Britain.

Every component is independently tested to BS EN 16890 and BS 18700 covering firmness, safety and fire performance. The combination of natural fibres and breathable

Sustainable and environmentally friendly

design means mattresses meet flammability standards without the use of toxic chemical sprays, aligning with the latest regulatory updates on infant product safety.

The natural range features British wool from highwelfare farms, responsibly sourced coconut coir and GOTS-certified organic cotton covers. These fibres are chosen for their provenance, renewability and ethical production.

Why It Matters For Retailers

Stocking mattresses that incorporate Airfresh technology provides a tangible, demonstrable difference, something store teams can confidently explain to customers. The airflow system, the absence of chemical additives, the natural temperature control – all features that resonate with parents who are more informed than ever about what makes a safe sleep environment.

Kishan added: “When you press your hand on the Airfresh fabric, you can feel the air move. It’s an instant point of trust, a moment that turns product knowledge into sales confidence.”

That confidence translates directly into sales. In recent months, several major retailers have replaced traditional quilted

covers with Airfresh fabrics across their entire ranges, moving away from what Kishan calls “25-year-old designs” in favour of modern, breathable solutions. The price of the new material has fallen in line with conventional alternatives, making it an easy upgrade for brands that want to align with current safety expectations.

Innovation With Integrity

Like all Prestige Sleep developments, Airfresh sits within a wider ethos of responsible innovation. The company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability, zero-waste manufacturing and ethical sourcing runs through every stage of production. Precisioncut components minimise offcuts, recycled materials are repurposed and suppliers are supported to reduce their environmental impact.

The result is a product that helps retailers lead the market toward safer, more sustainable baby sleep. As the industry evolves, Prestige Sleep’s message remains simple: when it comes to the place a baby spends most of their early life, trust matters most.

Trusted Sleep, Designed for Families

Nursery Connections Design Technologist Ben Calvo shares how the brand’s British-made mattresses combine science, safety, and sustainability to deliver the comfort and reassurance parents value most.

How does Nursery Connections design its infant mattresses and nursery products around what parents value most?

Our design process always starts with what matters most to families. Parents want safety, comfort, and products they can trust. Every mattress we make is developed around those principles. We study how babies sleep and what gives parents confidence at night. The result is a range that offers stable support, consistent comfort, and practical features that make daily life easier.

Can you tell us more about the breathability features in your mattresses and how they help regulate temperature for safer, more comfortable sleep?

Breathability is built into every layer of our mattresses. We use innovative, industry-leading fabrics that allow greater airflow across the sleep surface, including advanced 3D and naturally breathable knitted materials. Inside the mattress, fibre and foam cores are engineered to encourage continuous air movement, while natural materials such as coir and wool add further ventilation. By improving airflow throughout the mattress, we support safer sleep and more consistent comfort for babies through the night. Which fabrics and fillings do you use, and how do they balance softness, hygiene, and sustainability?

We use soft knitted fabrics that feel gentle and comforting while still being durable enough to handle daily use. Our covers are designed to be both practical and long lasting, helping parents keep them clean with ease. Inside, we use a variety of high-quality core materials including fibre, CertiPur certified foam, coir, wool, and many others. All are chosen for comfort, breathability, and safety. Most of our materials are hypoallergenic and sourced with sustainability in mind, with a strong focus on using recycled components wherever possible.

What recognised accreditations or safety standards do your mattresses meet, and how do these translate into real reassurance for parents and retailers alike?

All our mattresses meet BS EN 16890, the recognised safety standard for cot mattresses, and BS 7177 for flammability. We also comply with EN 71-3, which limits the presence of harmful chemicals and metals in materials. Alongside external testing, we carry out our own internal checks for firmness and dimensions using BS EN 16890 methods to ensure consistency. We also test for air permeability and fabric performance, including Martindale abrasion and pilling. This detailed approach ensures every mattress meets strict standards for safety and quality, giving both retailers and parents complete confidence in its reliability.

As your mattresses and bedding are made here in Great Britain, how does this support consistent quality, faster supply, and environmental responsibility?

Producing in the UK allows us to oversee every stage of manufacturing and maintain steady quality control. Each mattress is built and checked at our UK site. This helps us keep lead times short and ensures retailers receive stock that meets their expectations without long import delays. Local production also lowers transport emissions and supports skilled jobs within British manufacturing, which aligns with our commitment to responsible and sustainable practice.

Do you collaborate with healthcare or sleep safety experts when developing your products, and how does that expertise influence design or testing?

We work with baby sleep specialists who review our products and advise during the development of new designs. We also follow guidance from The Lullaby Trust and NHS sleep safety recommendations. Alongside this expert input, we hold regular research sessions with parents to understand their concerns and priorities. This direct feedback helps us refine our designs to support

better sleep, easier care, and greater convenience for families.

What resources or merchandising support do you offer to nursery retailers to help them communicate the benefits of Nursery Connections mattresses to parents?

Our in-house design team provides full marketing and product support. We supply visuals, layer images, copy, packaging, and leaflet design, along with detailed product information. We also assist with product presentation, customer queries, and pointof-sale displays. Retailers can rely on our team for everything needed to communicate product value with confidence.

What advantages do retailers gain from partnering with Nursery Connections in terms of product range, reliability, customer support, and the trust your brand already holds with UK parents?

Retailers benefit from a wide and flexible product range that covers both catalogue options and bespoke designs. Our catalogue includes proven products that are ready to order, while our bespoke service allows retailers to create products that stand out through unique features, materials, or branding. This gives partners choice, flexibility, and clear control over their product offer. Our dedicated design and quality control teams maintain high standards throughout production, ensuring consistency, reliability, and on-time delivery. With strong recognition among UK parents, Nursery Connections brings trusted quality and dependable support to every retail partnership.

Barking Mad

In his latest column, Pramland’s John Barker re ects on a busy and inspiring month for the nursery trade. From his highlights at Harrogate 2025, where folding carrycots took centre stage, to hosting an impactful Cybex Car Seat Safety Event in-store, John shares his thoughts on the innovations shaping the market and the importance of hands-on engagement with parents.

It’s been a fairly exciting month since my last article, so without further ado, let’s jump straight in and start o with my recap of the Harrogate Show 25. Despite a smaller footprint than in previous years, the halls were full of brands showing some great new products and innovations.

I attended all three days and have to say it felt quieter than usual, especially given its smaller size, but this didn’t bother me as it meant I had more time to wander around, see everything I wanted to see, and catch up with all my brands. Harrogate 2025 will be remembered as the year of the folding carrycot, with many brands showing their take on this new feature. It’s a feature many parents-to-be don’t know they want or need, but once they learn it’s available, it will no doubt become very popular.

Remember when travel systems didn’t fold with the seat unit on, or when infant carriers didn’t rotate? It’s

the same evolution, and parents will love the folding carrycot just as much. Hall M was home to Silver Cross, Venicci and BabyStyle, all of which had folding carrycots. I’m not going to pick a favourite, but I will say they each o ered fabulous options for parents-to-be at various price points, and I’m positive all three brands will see customers ooding to their products as a result. When you consider BabyStyle and Venicci also showcased new versions of their car seats, the race for the number one travel system option in the market really is hotting up.

Over on iCandy, it was nice to see them jumping back into the true single travel system market, even if I was surprised to see them use the name Core again. With the introduction of the new Core, iCandy are o ering a product many parents considering the likes of the Silver Cross Reef or Bugaboo Fox 5 Renew may also look at. I’m looking forward to

seeing it hit the shop oor, and I’m sure it will be a success.

Talking of successes, Maxi-Cosi’s Oxford+ has been a great hit since its launch, and now they have a couple of excellent additions to the Oxford family. The Oxford Cabin o ers parents an a ordable and reliable compact option, while the Oxford Flex is perfect for the growing family. Given the versatility of the product, its price and the bundle options, the Oxford Flex is guaranteed to be a huge success in store. Well done, Maxi-Cosi. On top of this, they also showed the

latest, and may I add rather brilliant, version of the Coral infant carrier. I saw this in Spain earlier in the year and fell in love with it, and seeing it again has just rea rmed my enthusiasm. As a concept, the new Coral is truly amazing, and in practice it is equally as good. I have a sneaky suspicion it may well become one of our most popular infant carriers in store. Everything that was wrong with the original Coral has been corrected, and parents are going to embrace this product completely. I can’t mention what I saw behind the black curtain on Cybex (under pain

Many of you who attended Harrogate will have seen the huge Cybex tent outside the hall entrance (how could you miss it?).
Just this past weekend, the wonderful Cybex team took time from their weekends to bring it up to us here in Hull, and we held a Car Seat Safety Event.

of death), but if you didn’t get asked to have a look, I will say this: Cybex are taking things seriously this year! Watch this space.

If you didn’t visit the lovely team from Babymore, you missed a real treat. They have a whole range of new strollers packed full of features parents will love, at prices everyone will be pleased about. Great work, Babymore. I wish I had more room to mention more brands and products, but I really must draw a line under Harrogate here. I will, however, end by saying a big thank you to every brand I visited. Your hospitality and warm welcome were very much appreciated, and I look forward to Harrogate 2026 where I hope to see you all again.

So, why have I rushed off the topic of Harrogate? Simple, I need to tell you all about the thought-provoking and informative Cybex Car Seat Safety Event we’ve just hosted in store. Many

of you who attended Harrogate will have seen the huge Cybex tent outside the hall entrance (how could you miss it?). Just this past weekend, the wonderful Cybex team took time from their weekends to bring it up to us here in Hull, and we held a Car Seat Safety Event.

In terms of a marketing tool, this ingenious piece of kit is simply breathtaking. It gives parents the opportunity to see the importance of in-car safety. All too often, car seat safety is overshadowed by cost or misunderstanding, but when parents see the simple sight of a dummy being thrown from a car seat at just 10mph, they stop and listen. It’s a talking point and a way of engaging customers that normal marketing techniques just don’t offer.

From Cybex’s point of view, it also brings huge awareness and shows parents that they are a caring and

nurturing brand, which we already know they are. “They must care if they are prepared to show me this” — what a great message. If the Crash Test Simulator makes just one parent think about the car seats they have, or how they use them, it could save the life of a child, and that in my book is a very worthwhile thing. Well done, Cybex. For those stockists not already in

talks with Cybex about holding a Car Seat Safety Event, please don’t delay. Demand for it has been huge so far, and Cybex really do want to bring it to as many stores and parents as possible. We are all looking for reasons for people to visit us in store rather than shop online, and Cybex have just given a rather brilliant and very loud reason!

Harrogate happiness

The doors closed on Harrogate International Nursery Fair 2025, wrapping up another exciting and upbeat edition of the UK’s only dedicated nursery trade event.

Held once again at the Harrogate Convention Centre, the three-day show delivered a lively mix of innovation, connection and community, proving that even in a challenging retail climate, the nursery industry’s spirit remains stronger than ever.

While this year’s oorplan was a little more streamlined, the energy was unmistakable. Exhibitors and visitors alike praised the show’s “quality over quantity” feel, with meaningful conversations, strong business leads and plenty of positive momentum carried throughout the halls.

Retailers turned out in force, from independent nursery specialists to larger chains and online newcomers, all eager to discover the latest product launches and reconnect with familiar faces. As Jolly Tots Managing Director Lorretta Owen put it: “We always love the opportunity to catch up with familiar faces and make new connections. It’s reassuring to know that we’re all in the same boat, especially during challenging economic times. At the end of the show, it’s great to unwind together over a drink and a few nibbles. It’s truly one of those times of the year we look forward to the most.”

““Harrogate is always a great chance to meet up, discuss, and chat with such a broad range of people. It also gives us the opportunity to meet, in person, those we usually only speak to via phone or email, which is invaluable.” Gary Watts, Owner, WH Watts

”WH Watts Owner Gary Watts agreed: “Harrogate is always a great chance to meet up, discuss, and chat with such a broad range of people. It also gives us the opportunity to meet, in person, those we usually only speak to via phone or email, which is invaluable.”

As always, the exhibitor line-up was packed with some of the nursery sector’s biggest and most trusted names, including Cybex, Joie, Nuna, Graco, Nora Baby (Jovikids & Welldon), Babymore, Rockit, Axkid, Avionaut, BIBS, Shnuggle, Clair de Lune, Hauck, Ergobaby, BabyStyle, Venicci, Cheeky Rascals, CuddleCo, iCandy, Roma Prams, Dorel, Peg Perego, Lassig, BeSafe, Cozy n Safe, Murrays Health & Beauty and Red Kite, (to name just a few!), together with newcomers including Bababing and Folk & Thread. From cuttingedge car seats and compact travel systems to sustainable bathtime collections and stylish nursery interiors, there was no shortage of inspiration.

Among the standout launches this year was Joie’s My Drift, a sleek, lightweight

travel system that blends contemporary style with everyday practicality. Nuna drew a constant crowd with its new Relx Wind, expanding its reputation for combining intuitive features with re ned design. Over on the Cheeky Rascals stand, Owlet’s enhanced Dream Sight video monitor impressed with its 2K HD streaming, smart alerts and temperature tracking which will become a hit for tech-savvy parents.

BabyStyle caused a stir with the luxurious Aston Martin egg3, an exclusive collaboration that epitomised premium design and craftsmanship together with their newly launched Oyster Vee, while CuddleCo continued to strengthen its interiors o ering, showcasing two new nursery furniture ranges and matching home furnishings.

Red Kite Baby introduced its new Push Me Cruise 3-in-1 Travel System, adding to the brand’s already popular line-up of value-packed nursery essentials. Director Debra Tucker re ected the mood across the show oor, saying: “We came away this year feeling very upbeat and positive following responses from visitors to the stand, and we have already con rmed that yes, we will be exhibiting as always next year.”

There was also plenty of innovation from BeSafe, whose Voksi Carry Me and Huddle carriers drew admiration for their clever ergonomics and thoughtful design touches which are both aimed at providing even greater comfort and safety for parents and babies alike. Nora Baby impressed with Welldon’s pioneering voice-activated and cooling car seat technology, showing how smart features are becoming a natural part of modern parenting gear.

Shnuggle brought its eco-conscious credentials to the fore, debuting a brand-new Eco Bathtime Collection, crafted from sustainable materials and designed to make

baby bath time gentler on both skin and the planet and over at hauck they were celebrating a milestone moment too, marking the 50th anniversary of its iconic Alpha+ highchair, a product that continues to evolve while remaining one of the most recognisable names in family dining.

On the trend front, certain themes stood out clearly across the show. Compact and cabinapproved strollers were notable, re ecting how parents increasingly want travel-friendly gear that doesn’t compromise on comfort or design. Folding carrycots and modular systems also continue to be on the rise, o ering exibility and space-saving convenience for families on the go. And tech integration is spreading fast from voice-activated seats to smart monitors clearly illustrating how brands are responding to the growing appetite for products that make parenting simpler and more connected.

But design was just as big a talking point. Warm neutral tones, tactile fabrics and furniture collections that blend e ortlessly with home décor were signalling a continued move toward products that feel as good in the living room as they do in the nursery. With more parents seeing nursery items as part of their lifestyle rather than purely functional purchases, this crossover trend looks set to keep growing.

““We saw a strong presence from our valued retail partners, those we’ve built long-standing relationships with and always look forward to reconnecting with. This year, we also welcomed a noticeable number of new and emerging retailers exploring premium brands.” Nuna’s UK Marketing Lead, Ashleigh Bernstein

”Nuna’s UK Marketing Lead, Ashleigh Bernstein, captured the tone perfectly: “We saw a strong presence from our valued retail partners, those we’ve built long-standing relationships with and always look forward to reconnecting with. This year, we also welcomed a noticeable number of new and emerging retailers exploring premium brands, which brought a fresh wave of interest and conversation to the stand.”

BeSafe’s Country Manager, James Harrison, added: “Harrogate is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our full product range in one place and reconnect with our retail partners faceto-face. While we’re in regular contact throughout the year, it’s not always possible to present all our new launches in person. The fair provides the perfect platform to share what’s new from BeSafe, Voksi and MiniMeis, and to discuss what’s coming up for the year ahead.”

The sense of camaraderie and collaboration was clear throughout the event. Exhibitors and visitors spoke warmly of the show’s friendly, professional feel. The relaxed atmosphere allowed time for genuine conversation, making it the ideal setting to build partnerships and spark new ideas.

Show organiser Adrian Sneyd summed it up perfectly: “It has without doubt been a di cult year for the UK nursery industry, but Harrogate International Nursery Fair demonstrates how businesses all pull together to not only support each other but also this important - and onlyUK nursery trade event. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Harrogate in 2026.”

As exhibitors packed away their stands and retailers re ected on new opportunities, one thing was clear Harrogate 2025 had delivered once again. From exciting product debuts and emerging design trends to friendly faces and full order books, the show captured everything that makes the UK nursery sector special.

For three vibrant days, Harrogate was the heart of the nursery world, buzzing with creativity, connection and optimism. And with 2026 already on the horizon, that energy shows no sign of slowing down.

Innovation, Style, and Smart Solutions Showcased at

Harro

At this year’s Harrogate International Nursery Fair, Jolly Tots Managing Director Lorretta Owen shared her thoughts on the standout innovations, emerging trends, and future opportunities shaping the baby and nursery retail world. From clever new gadgets to stylish travel systems, her insights highlight the creativity driving the industry forward.

During your recent visit to Harrogate Int. Nursery Fair, which new products or brands caught your eye and what was it about them that stood out to you?

We were truly impressed by the innovation and creativity on display this year.

The new Nuna Relx Wind was a real game changer, as the ability to recline the baby car seat at the touch of a remote is pure genius.

The new Tavo range also stood out for its excellent quality, designed perfectly for our four-legged “babies”. It’s an exciting new retail opportunity for our business.

“We always love the opportunity to catch up with familiar faces and make new connections. It’s reassuring to know that we’re all in the same boat, especially during challenging economic times.

The Graco Eluma Glide was another standout. Its clever activation feature, which responds to a baby’s cry, is brilliant and a de nite musthave gadget for new parents.

Silver Cross unveiled some truly exciting launches, blending style with convenience. Their new stroller, which features a carrycot that folds with the frame and meets IATA cabin requirements, is a remarkable innovation. The styling and colourways are right on trend.

As always, Venicci impressed with its signature elegance. The upcoming Tila travel system, set for release early next year, features a folding carrycot that is sure to make it a popular choice among parents.

“ ” When it comes to style, beige and brown are definitely the colours of the moment. There were so many beautiful fabric choices in these tones.

How did you find the opportunity to connect with like-minded retailers, suppliers, and industry peers during your time at the fair? Did any interesting collaborations or partnerships come from those conversations?

We always love the opportunity to catch up with familiar faces and make new connections. It’s reassuring to know that we’re all in the same boat, especially during challenging economic times. At the end of the

show, it’s great to unwind together over a drink and a few nibbles. It’s truly one of those times of the year we look forward to the most.

What innovations or emerging trends did you notice on the show floor this year, and how do you see them shaping the nursery and baby retail market in the coming months?

The standout trend of the show was undoubtedly the folding carrycot, and we saw many impressive examples across all brands. Red Kite delivered a fantastic budget-friendly option with the Push Me Cruise, offering exceptional quality for its price point. The brown colourway was a particular favourite of mine.

As mentioned earlier, Silver Cross’s new ranges, the Nia and Breeze, are incredibly exciting and sure to be a hit with customers, continuing the huge success of the Cove.

When it comes to style, beige and brown are definitely the colours of the moment. There were so many beautiful fabric choices in these tones. I was especially taken with the new shades from iCandy; the Peach 7 in “Porcini” and the Pip in “Coffee Bean” were simply stunning.

Nuna’s new colourways were equally gorgeous. I loved all three and couldn’t decide which to display in each store, so I went for all of them - why not?

And finally, the cry-detection Eluma range from Graco will be a real winner for parents who love smart gadgets, a perfect blend of innovation and practicality.

Were there any product launches or categories you feel could fill a gap in your current range

or particularly appeal to your customers? We’re looking to extend our baby carrier range, with lots of makes and models catching our eye at the show. We’re excited to be stocking some of them very soon.

Following the fair, we’re always asking ourselves: Are there any new brands or suppliers we’d like to explore or bring into our business, and what influences that decision?

At our core, we’re a company that’s always evolving. We firmly believe that in the current market, if you stand still, you’ll be swallowed up by the larger businesses. That said, we never lose sight of our key values: to provide something for every budget and to cater for every baby’s and parent’s needs.

We’ve found that bundles and packages continue to be in high demand. They’re strong sellers and a great way to offer real value. With our values in mind, we always aim to create packages that suit every budget and lifestyle.

The Harrogate show is always an excellent opportunity to discover new brands and products. This year, we were particularly excited by the new “Explor” model. Being able to offer customers an IATA-approved stroller for just £95 is a real game changer. We only hope they add more colours soon, because this one is going to fly!

Do you have a memorable or funny moment from this year’s Fair that really stood out for you?

We enjoyed every moment of the fair. There were lots of laughs and fun throughout.

Design, Innovation and Community Spirit

iCandy’s Head of Sales, Cath Needham, shares her highlights from this year’s Harrogate International Nursery Fair, discussing the brand’s latest launches, visitor response and why Harrogate remains such an essential event for connecting with the nursery industry.

Why is Harrogate an important date in your yearly exhibition calendar and what makes the fair so special to you as a business?

Harrogate is always a highlight in the iCandy calendar and one we genuinely look forward to each year. It is a fantastic opportunity to connect face-to-face with our extended iCandy family of valued retail partners, new and prospective contacts, and the wider nursery industry.

There’s something uniquely special about the atmosphere at Harrogate, it’s a chance to celebrate and share our passion for design and innovation.

What new or standout products did you showcase at this year’s fair, and how did visitors respond to them?

This year’s show was particularly exciting, as we unveiled several new additions to the iCandy range. Highlights included an exclusive, stunning new colourway for our much-loved and iconic iCandy Peach 7 pushchair, named Porcini, and our increasingly popular compact pushchair, iCandy Pip, which attracted a lot of interest from visitors.

We also offered a sneak peek at a selection of highly anticipated launches set for release next year. The response across the board was overwhelmingly positive, with fantastic feedback on the premium finishes, intuitive functionality and contemporary styling that define every iCandy design.

What types of visitors did you see most frequently at your stand and did that differ from previous years? We were delighted and extremely proud to welcome a wide variety of visitors to our stand, including existing

retail partners, potential new stockists and key press contacts. We also saw an increase in international visitors this year, thanks to our growing global presence. It was encouraging to see such a strong mix of established relationships and exciting new opportunities.

Was there a particular product or range that gained strong traction during the event? If so, what do you think contributed to that success?

The iCandy Pip was undoubtedly one of the stars of the show. As our first-ever compact fold pushchair, since its launch in May it has continued to capture attention for its no-compromise approach to design. Visitors to the stand were particularly drawn to its beautiful colour choices, car seat compatibility, easy fold mechanism and thoughtful details that make life easier for modern parents.

Did you have any memorable moments or standout interactions during the fair?

There were so many memorable moments throughout the event, but one highlight was seeing the genuine excitement from both retailers and consumers as they experienced our newness for the first time.

The energy and enthusiasm from visitors reminded us just how strong the sense of community is within this industry, it’s always inspiring to share our journey with others who are just as passionate about pushing boundaries in product and design.

Did the fair provide a good platform for connecting with like-minded professionals and potential

partners? And after your experience this year, do you plan to exhibit again next year?

Absolutely. Harrogate continues to be an invaluable platform for building connections and strengthening relationships across the nursery sector. The show allows us to collaborate, exchange ideas and align on shared goals for the year ahead. Following such a positive experience this year, we’re already looking forward to exhibiting again next year with even more exciting innovations to share.

During your recent visit to Harrogate Int. Nursery Fair, which new products or brands caught your eye, and what was it about them that stood out to you?

Before attending Harrogate, we were a little unsure what to expect or whether anything would catch our eye, as quite a few brands were not attending this year. However, we were pleasantly surprised by how much newness each brand showcased.

We loved the innovative folding carrycots, which proved to be a major theme, and there were also some lovely new, long-awaited bedding ranges that we were genuinely excited to see.

How did you nd the opportunity to connect with like-minded retailers, suppliers, and industry peers during your time at the fair? Did any interesting collaborations or partnerships come from those conversations?

Harrogate is always a great chance to meet up, discuss, and chat with such a broad range of people. It also gives us the opportunity to meet, in person, those we usually only speak to via phone or email, which is invaluable.

Harrogate Delivered Fresh Finds and Familiar Faces

At this year’s Harrogate International Nursery Fair, WH Watts owner Gary Watts shared his impressions of the latest trends, standout innovations, and the value of connecting with industry peers. From clever compact designs to longawaited bedding collections, his insights re ect both excitement and a grounded understanding of customer needs.

What innovations or emerging trends did you notice on the show oor this year, and how do you see them shaping the nursery and baby retail market in the coming months?

There seemed to be a strong focus on smaller, compact, and cabin-approved products. While these

”are very innovative, our customer base is still quite traditional, so it will be interesting to see whether that trend starts to shift.

Were there any product launches or categories

you feel could ll a gap in your current range or particularly appeal to your customers?

Bedding. We’ve been trying to source new bedding ranges for a good few years, so we’re really looking forward to seeing our showroom transform in the coming months. We also took in some smaller gifttype items, perfect as Christmas add-ons.

Following the fair, are there any new brands or suppliers you’re planning to explore or bring into your business, and what influenced that decision?

We took in the new Bababing range, as well as Ewan the Sheep and Tonies. It’s always good to introduce fresh products, and we were particularly impressed with the bundle deals o ered with the Bababing range.

Do you have a memorable or funny moment from this year’s Fair that really stood out for you?

We thought the “aeroplane” on the Dorel stand was such a fantastic feature and couldn’t resist taking some great photos there.

Harrogate Highlights

Nursery Today caught up with Nuna’s UK Marketing Lead, Ashleigh Bernstein, and BeSafe’s Country Manager, James Harrison, to gain their insights on this year’s Harrogate International Nursery Fair, the standout launches that drew attention, and why the event continues to be such an important date on their exhibition calendars

Nuna’s UK Marketing Lead, Ashleigh Bernstein

Why is Harrogate an important date in your yearly exhibition calendar and what makes the fair so special to you as a business?

Harrogate is one of the most important dates in our yearly exhibition calendar because it’s the key moment where we can connect directly with the heart of the nursery industry in the UK and beyond. The show brings together retailers, buyers, industry partners, and innovators all in one place, giving us a concentrated opportunity to strengthen relationships and showcase the very best of Nuna. What new or standout products did you showcase at this year’s fair, and how did visitors respond to them?

Our standout launch this year was the new RELX wind car seat, Nuna’s rst battery powered ventilated model and a true luxury innovation. We’ve taken comfort, technology, and design to a new level, and visitors immediately recognised the RELX wind as a product that elevates luxury travel for families.

The seat combines integrated ventilation, an intuitive control panel, and features such as automatic temperature detection and ISOFIX installation detection, all wrapped into Nuna’s signature aesthetic. It o ers the kind of re ned, intelligent experience parents expect from a premium brand.

Another highlight was the VIAA Cabin Compact Carry-On, a pushchair designed to comply with airline cabin baggage standards. With its e ortless one-hand fold, stylish nish, and true cabinapproved convenience, it drew a lot of attention as a smart travel solution for modern families.

What types of visitors did you see most frequently at your stand, and did that di er from previous years?

We saw a strong presence from our valued retail partners, those we’ve built long-standing relationships with and always look forward to reconnecting with. This year, we also welcomed a noticeable number of new and emerging retailers exploring premium brands, which brought a fresh wave of interest and conversation to the stand.

Was there a particular product or range that gained strong traction during the event? If so, what do you think contributed to that success?

Our Cosmopolitan range gained particularly strong traction. Visitors were drawn to its elevated aesthetic, especially the beautifully quilted detailing that sets it apart. This will also feature in the TRIV lx All-Season Set, which is fast becoming one of our best sellers. Retailers were excited about having a fashion-forward alternative to Caviar, o ering both style and practicality in a way that feels distinctly Nuna.

Did you have any memorable moments or standout interactions during the fair?

One of the standout moments for us was getting to see the wonderful team at Nursery Today. Their energy, support, and passion for the industry always make the fair that bit more special.

Did the fair provide a good platform for connecting with like-minded professionals and potential partners?

Absolutely, the fair continues to be an excellent platform for connecting with like-minded professionals and partners. It o ers the perfect environment to share ideas, showcase innovations, and strengthen relationships with those who share our passion for premium, design led baby products.

BeSafe’s Country Manager, James Harrison

Why is Harrogate an important date in your yearly exhibition calendar and what makes the fair so special to you as a business?

Harrogate is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our full product range in one place and reconnect with our retail partners face-to-face. While we’re in regular contact throughout the year, it’s not always possible to present all our new launches in person. The fair provides the perfect platform to share what’s new from BeSafe, VOKSI, and MiniMeis, and to discuss what’s coming up for the year ahead.

What new or standout products did you showcase at this year’s fair, and how did visitors respond to them?

The star of the show was our brand-new baby carrier from VOKSI, The Huddle, which launches in the UK next year. Designed like a jacket that zips up the front, it really captured visitors’ attention. Retailers loved it, and we had strong interest from potential new partners, which makes us very excited for what’s ahead in 2026.

We also unveiled our new BeSafe Beyond² car seats, which received an incredible response following such a positive year for BeSafe Beyond. Our updated fabric options drew a lot of praise and attention.

What types of visitors did you see most frequently at your stand and did that di er from previous years?

We primarily met with our existing retail partners and had a full schedule of productive meetings throughout the show. It was a great opportunity to strengthen relationships and plan for the year ahead.

Was there a particular product or range that gained strong traction during the event? If so, what do you think contributed to that success?

The VOKSI Huddle certainly stole the spotlight. A highlight of the fair was having our Head Designer, Lina Åker, travel over from Norway to personally walk visitors through the product’s development, design inspiration, and features. She also showcased the VOKSI Carry Me, which was extremely well received.

Did you have any memorable moments or standout interactions during the fair?

Hosting in uencer The Enchanted Nanny on our stand was a real highlight. She’s deeply passionate about safety, so it was fantastic to introduce her to the new BeSafe Beyond² models and give her the chance to create content from the event. As always, it was also wonderful to catch up with both our retail partners and press contacts in person.

Did the fair provide a good platform for connecting with like-minded professionals and potential partners?

Absolutely. Harrogate is always a great opportunity to see what others in the nursery industry are up to and connect face-to-face.

Celebrating 20 Years at Harrogate

Red Kite Baby’s Director Debra Tucker reflects on two decades of exhibiting at Harrogate, sharing highlights from this year’s fair, the success of their latest product launch, and why the event remains such an important date in the brand’s calendar.

Why is Harrogate an important date in your yearly exhibition calendar and what makes the fair so special to you as a business?

The Harrogate Fair is the only UK-based trade show geared to attract all buyers and retailers in the nursery industry. This means we have always believed it is essential that we exhibit each year, as this is the obvious place to showcase our range to both current and hopefully new customers.

What new or standout products did you showcase at this year’s fair, and how did visitors respond to them?

We always use Harrogate to launch new products planned for the coming season and show new concepts we are keen to get feedback on. Regular customers expect to see fresh ideas and colour options, so it is always helpful to see their reactions to new products. Our standout new product this year was the Push Me Cruise 3 in 1 Travel System, which features a foldable carrycot and our brilliant Neo Infant Carrier at the expected value price point customers associate with Red Kite.

What types of visitors did you see most frequently at your stand and did that differ from previous years?

We celebrated our 20th anniversary at the show and genuinely one of my favourite things I look forward to each year is seeing regular customers and friends, some of whom I have known for over 30 years of working in this industry. I was aware that sadly some of the independent retailers I have known for all this period have in the past year ceased trading, as I am sure everyone agrees that these are challenging times for us all.

Historically, Sundays were always the busiest footfall day of the show, with mainly independent retailers

making this their main day to visit. This has changed over the past few years, with some of them spreading out their time over a few days. Due to fewer of them visiting, we felt that whilst we were steady at all times of the show, it was more of an even spread over the three days. We also had meetings scheduled with most national retailers, including on Sunday, so yes, I would say there were some different visitor trends.

Was there a particular product or range that gained strong traction during the event? If so, what do you think contributed to that success?

Our standout success was the launch of our new Push Me Cruise 3 in 1 Travel System. We deliberately showcased this at the front of our stand, and this worked to attract attention and resulted in an amazing response. We made sure that the colour options were bang on trend, including chestnut tones, and also showcased an impressive new foldable carrycot. Red Kite is always renowned for great quality products at fantastic price points, and this new launch certainly raised some eyebrows as customers were amazed at the excellent quality and the packed functions this new introduction featured.

Did you have any memorable moments or standout interactions during the fair?

Having worked in this industry for more than 30 years and 20 years since I launched Red Kite, I was so touched at how many people came up to me to simply congratulate us on our success. We are a family-friendly brand, and I love reconnecting with people I have known for so many years. So whilst a trade show will always be about showcasing products and exciting customers, the opportunity for us all to be together and simply catch up is invaluable.

It was also sad and emotional to say goodbye to customers, as I did to one retailer I have known for

32 years. We hugged each other to wish each other the very best, as this will be their last Harrogate. This personally resonated with me as I remember her being one of my very first independent accounts so many years ago.

Did the fair provide a good platform for connecting with like-minded professionals and potential partners? And after your experience this year, do you plan to exhibit again next year?

One hundred percent yes, it does enable an opportunity to connect and catch up with fellow exhibitors. Trading conditions have been challenging for many reasons over the past few years, so it is always valuable to hear other perspectives. We came away this year feeling very upbeat and positive following responses from visitors to the stand, and we have already confirmed that yes, we will be exhibiting as always next year.

Harrogate Highlights with Little Stars Malta

Edward Bugeja, owner of Little Stars Malta, re ects on his time at Harrogate International Nursery Fair 2025, sharing the standout products, exciting innovations, and memorable moments that made this year’s event one to remember.

During your recent visit to Harrogate International Nursery Fair, which new products or brands caught your eye, and what was it about them that stood out to you?

Harrogate 2025 - what a year this has been! Honestly, the one that really caught my eye this year has to be the Egg3 Aston Martin. The level of nesse and attention to detail is exceptional.

How did you nd the opportunity to connect with like-minded retailers, suppliers, and industry peers during your time at the fair? Did any interesting collaborations or partnerships come from those conversations?

As always, I’m on the lookout for new innovations. This year, I focused on car seats, and the one that really caught my attention was from Nora Baby (Jovi Kids) with their new car seat from Weldon. The technology is unbelievable, it’s like having Siri in the car seat! You can give it a command and it responds instantly. We now have a display unit in our shop.

What innovations or emerging trends did you notice on the show oor this year, and how do

you see them shaping the nursery and baby retail market in the coming months?

I noticed there were lots of strollers designed for travel. The variety in shapes and sizes, the quick folds, the comfort for both parent and child, and how compact they become when closed, it was almost impossible to decide which to choose. But I think the Egg Sky will be the one to watch.

Were there any product launches or categories you feel could ll a gap in your current range or particularly appeal to your customers?

To be honest, we’re quite well covered for products, so I was mainly looking for upgrades to existing ranges. For example, the new breastfeeding pump from Fraupow, the Viva Pro, really stood out. It has a sleek new design, is more compact and discreet, and includes a talk-back feature plus an alert when it reaches the ll limit. Great job, Fraupow!

Following the fair, are there any new brands or suppliers you’re planning to explore or bring into your business, and what in uenced that decision?

Yes, we are currently in talks with Muuvo from Poland.

I was really impressed by their new models of strollers and travel systems, and we’re hoping to have them on our shop oor soon.

“I noticed there were lots of strollers designed for travel. The variety in shapes and sizes, the quick folds, the comfort for both parent and child, and how compact they become when closed, it was almost impossible to decide which to choose.

Do you have a memorable or funny moment from this year’s fair that really stood out for you? There are always great memories from Harrogate. Meeting old and new suppliers creates moments that last a lifetime.

Stronger together: How the Baby Products Industry Association supports UK brands

From safeguarding compliance to shaping industry policy, BPIA membership gives baby product businesses the tools, insights, and advocacy they need to thrive in today’s competitive market.

In the competitive world of baby products, innovation, safety and trust are paramount. Parents expect products that are not only practical and well-designed but also rigorously tested and fully compliant with regulations. Behind the scenes, the Baby Products Industry Association (BPIA) plays a vital role in helping UK businesses meet these expectations — and thrive in an increasingly complex market.

The BPIA serves as the collective voice of the UK nursery sector, representing manufacturers, distributors, and retailers in discussions with government departments, regulators and standards bodies. But the Association is more than just a networking hub. Every penny of membership fees is reinvested directly into initiatives that benefit the industry as a whole. From lobbying policymakers and influencing product safety legislation to supporting members in times of regulatory or commercial challenge, the BPIA works tirelessly to protect and promote the sector.

Regulatory compliance can be a major challenge, particularly in a post-Brexit environment. BPIA members receive timely updates on safety standards, trade policies, and other essential compliance issues — helping them keep products safe, legal, and market-ready. The Association also has access to market research and trend analysis, giving members insights into shifting consumer behaviours, sustainability initiatives, and emerging product trends, enabling informed business decisions and strategic planning.

Membership also brings access to a vibrant professional network. Through trade shows, conferences and partnerships with events such as Harrogate International Nursery Fair, CBME and Kind + Jugend, members can form valuable collaborations, discover suppliers and connect with retailers and media contacts. Being part of the BPIA demonstrates credibility and professionalism, signalling to consumers, retailers and partners that a business is committed to high standards not just for itself, but for the wider industry.

In an industry where reputation, safety and quality are everything, standing together matters. Joining the Baby Products Industry Association is more than just a subscription; it is an investment in a company’s future and the health and integrity of the UK nursery sector as a whole. With the BPIA as an advocate, advisor and ally, businesses can navigate challenges with confidence, stay ahead of trends and continue to deliver the products parents trust.

Membership isn’t just beneficial — it’s essential. For more information about joining the BPIA, contact Christine Scippo – info@b-p-a.org

The BPIA welcomes the following new members:

Nursery Industry Faces Growing

Jonathan Feingold explores one of the most challenging periods the nursery industry has faced in decades, as new and unnecessary problems compound existing di culties.

Recently, a Facebook advertisement appeared promoting what seemed to be a Lidl Supermarket offer for one of the world’s best-selling compact stroller, the Bugaboo Butterfly, at the astonishing price of £69 delivered.

Online scams and counterfeit offers for leading nursery brands are spreading rapidly through social media and search platforms, while unregulated, unsafe baby products are being sold in vast quantities on global online marketplaces. The consequences are far-reaching, endangering babies and children, undermining trusted brands, and destabilising the legitimate retail market.

Scam O ers and the Impact on Brand Trust

Recently, a Facebook advertisement appeared promoting what seemed to be a Lidl Supermarket o er for one of the world’s best-selling compact stroller, the Bugaboo Butter y, at the astonishing price of £69 delivered. To the average consumer, this represented a saving of several hundred pounds.

However, as those in the nursery trade immediately recognised, such an o er was a classic “too good to be true” scenario. For families, a stroller is typically a one-o , carefully considered investment, making them particularly vulnerable to scams like this.

The fraudulent promotion, disguised as a Lidl o er, was supported by fake Trustpilot reviews and a fabricated company address traced to a residential property that no longer exists. This scam not only defrauds unsuspecting parents but also damages legitimate brands and retailers. Both Bugaboo and Lidl were impacted through no fault of their own, while Facebook and the banks, by failing to act swiftly, are e ectively enabling deception.

The wider market su ers too. When consumers see premium nursery products promoted at unrealistically low prices, pressure builds on genuine retailers to justify or even match impossible gures, undermining pricing integrity and eroding trust across the sector.

Unfortunately, this is far from an

isolated incident. The baby products industry has become a prime target for online fraudsters precisely because it is emotionally driven and time sensitive. By the time these scams are detected and removed, the nancial, reputational, and emotional damage is already done.

The Safety Crisis: Unregulated and Dangerous Products

The UK is now facing an immediate and alarming threat: babies and young children are being exposed to severe hazards from unsafe baby products sold online. These hazards are not theoretical, they include chemical and mechanical risks, entrapment, strangulation, choking, su ocation, sharp edges, inadequate stability, and the potential for falls.

Untested and non-compliant products, including child car seats that would fail even the most basic crash tests and baby walkers that do not meet any safety standards, are being sold freely on platforms such as Amazon and eBay. This situation demands urgent government intervention. Action must be taken immediately to:

• Halt the sale of dangerous, untested baby products.

• Recall non-compliant items already in circulation.

• Enforce British and European safety standards across all online retail platforms.

Only through strict enforcement can the safety of babies and children be assured, and a surge in preventable injuries or worse be avoided.

A Regression in British Safety

It is a sad irony that the UK, the birthplace of many of the world’s earliest consumer safety regulations dating back to the Victorian era, is now witnessing a regression in product safety enforcement. Dangerous, untested imports are being sold unchecked, often from

Threat

overseas-owned sellers who face no meaningful accountability.

Nowhere is this more concerning than in the baby and child product sector, where safety is non-negotiable.

The Baby Walker Problem

One particularly troubling example is the baby walker, a product with a long history dating back to the 18th century. Despite decades of safety improvements, baby walkers have a well-documented record of serious injuries, some life-changing. To address these risks, the British Standard BS EN 1273:2020+A1:2023 was introduced to cover critical hazards, including falling

the compliant market, and widespread use of potentially dangerous products.

Where Is the Enforcement?

It would be reasonable to assume that existing laws are being upheld by Trading Standards and the O ce for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), whose stated mission is to “protect people and places from productrelated harm.” Yet, despite repeated warnings, unsafe products continue to be sold unchecked by the world’s largest online retailers.

A recent RAPEX (EU rapid alert system) report highlighted a

It is a sad irony that the UK, the birthplace of many of the world’s earliest consumer safety regulations dating back to the Victorian era, is now witnessing a regression in product safety enforcement. “ ”

down stairs, tipping, entrapment, pinching, scissoring, choking, strangulation, and even electrocution.

Baby walkers must also comply with toy safety standard EN 71, ensuring that parts are non-toxic and free from choking hazards. When manufactured to these standards and used correctly, baby walkers are safe for babies aged around six months and up, until they reach 12 kilograms, usually about 18 months.

However, compliance comes at a cost. Certi ed, safety-tested walkers typically retail between just below £40 and £100. In contrast, untested, non-compliant versions are now ooding the market below these retail costs, often promoted through global online platforms. The result is a race to the bottom in pricing, the collapse of

non-compliant baby walker posing serious safety risks. Despite this, similar models remain openly available for sale on Amazon and eBay today.

A Sector on the Brink

This situation represents a clear and present danger not only to babies and families but also to the reputation and survival of the legitimate nursery industry. Unless regulators, platforms, and nancial institutions act decisively, the problem will only deepen.

The question now is simple: will anything actually be done? You can contact Jonathan by email: jonathan@cls-intelligence.co.uk
