Downtown’s fresh addition is a charming bookstore designed to help you unwind.

he days are full of to-do lists and hustle, but there’s a place you can go in Culpeper that will take you into another world. That place is Spelled Ink, a small bookstore coowned by Heather Griffin and Cindy Pagan — and it’s a treat for the heart and soul. Just look for the cute beach umbrella in the lot behind Skin by NV that marks its entrance. “Our focus is on creating a magical and welcoming atmosphere for everyone,” Griffin said. “A small, hidden getaway where you can catch your breath for a little while.” This woman and veteran-owned independent bookstore celebrated the grand opening of its Culpeper location in April 2023. It is the second location of the eponymous bookstore in Orange, acting as the first store’s spiritual sister, creating a “one store in two locations” feel.
