The ONDCP works to reduce drug use and its consequences by leading and coordinating the development, implementation, and assessment of U.S. drug policy. Dogwood Village would like to recognize Marcia Colby for her contributions to the facility. Mrs. Colby lives in Orange County with her husband and has been volunteering in the facility for about 4 years along with the Virginia Master Naturalists. She has two children and a grandson and enjoys spending time with her family. Mrs. Colby is a member of the Orange Baptist Church and volunteers with the food pantry. She also grows many fl owers and enjoys taking cut fl owers to her friends and neighbors. Mrs. Colby moved to Orange with her husband 11 years ago and enjoys the advantages of a small community. Are your hens laying more eggs than you need? Why not donate them to the Culpeper Food Closet, located on Commerce Street in the lower fl oor of Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church. They are open Monday through Friday from 9-12 and Thursdays from 4-6. They accept donations of food, personal care products, produce, dog and cat food or money. Beverages such as bottled water, Gatorade, soda, co ee, tea bags, juice, and juice boxes are in high demand. Canned foods that contain meat such as stew, chili, chunky soups or beanie weenies are great donations as are ramen noodles, With the kids home for the summer, snacks and all types of lunch items are needed The number of patrons that the Food Closet is serving is increasing due to the rising costs of everything Did you know that you cannot buy personal care products, paper or laundry products with Food Stamps? Donations of these items are sorely needed. Toothpaste, tooth brushes, deodorant, feminine products, soap, shampoo and conditioner are always needed. Do you have extra time? The Food Closet can always use volunteers. Sharon Guenther is the Volunteer Coordinator and would be happy to talk to you about volunteering. There are di erent types of jobs available. Some people pack food, others stock shelves or pick up donations from businesses such as Walmart, Target and Aldi’s.
