Culpeper choir teacher arrested for sex crimes

A Culpeper County Public Schools choir teacher was arrested on July 12 for reportedly providing a cell phone and requesting nude photographs of a 16-year-old male.
Craig Alexander Smith, 47, of Culpeper, was arrested for use of communication systems to facilitate certain o enses involving children. He was committed to Culpeper County Jail on a $2,000 secured bond.

decided to dive head fi rst into her own small business, memorializing people’s homes in paint.
As a child, she remembered sketching pictures of houses and interior rooms, dreaming of designing her own home.
Following a brief interest in perhaps changing careers to become a realtor, Taylor decided to combine her two passions into providing a niche service.
In March, she launched DLT Artwork by posting on social media, looking for clients. She wanted to o er them more than just a pen and paper drawing though.
Taylor drew in help from a friend who taught her watercolor painting.
After the post went up, she got 10 orders overnight.
“It's overwhelming and beautiful,” she said. “It makes me feel very honored and humble that people
are willing to trust me with these gifts. Most of the requests are for gifts to others of childhood homes, fi rst homes and even homes that may have been destroyed. He is now being held without bond, according to the sheri 's offi ce.
According to the Culpeper County Sheri 's O ce, the mother of the 16-year-old reported that a Culpeper County High School teacher was possibly grooming her son for sexual activity, had provided him a cell phone and o ers for rides home from work.
Smith was appointed as the CCHS choir teacher in 2022 and was working in the summer school program, the sheri 's o ce said.
CCPS Director of Communications Laura Hoover indicated by email on July 13 Smith was no longer employed with the district.
Smith cooperated in discussing the allegations with deputies and admitted to providing the cellular phone and requesting nude photographs of the juvenile, the sheri 's o ce continued.
