The following is a general weekly schedule of media availability for the Louisiana Tech football team. Members of the media are expected to adhere to these policies at all times. All interview requests should be made to Louisiana Tech Assistant Director of Athletic Communications Anna Claire Thomas at least 24 hours in advance. All media availability times are subject to change. Please contact Anna Claire Thomas for any changes in the schedule. Louisiana Tech fans can tune into the LA Tech Sports Network this fall for all live game broadcasts for the Bulldogs’ 12game schedule as well as 12 editions of Inside Bulldog Football with Skip Holtz. For the 18th straight year, the LA Tech Sports Network will s p o r t s n e t w o r k team up with KXKZ-FM (107.5) Ruston as the flagship station for Tech Athletics. In addition to KXKZ, the LA Tech Sports Network will consist of KNBB-FM 97.7 (Ruston), KPCH-FM 99.3 (Ruston), WUBR-AM 910 (Baton Rouge), KRMD 1340 AM (Shreveport), KRMD 100.7 FM (Shreveport), KVCL-FM 92.1 (Winnfield), KJVC-FM 92.7 (Mansfield), KDBS-AM 1410 (Alexandria), KTKC-FM 92.9 (Springhill) and KNCB-AM 1320 (Vivian). Louisiana Tech Fans can access all live audio and video streaming events that include coaches shows, press conferences, game previews, in game broadcasts, and postgame shows via the new CUSA. TV website or the new Louisiana Tech X mobile app which is available for download on the iTunes App Store or Google Play. Cost of a subscription to CUSA.TV is $6.95 per day, $10.95 per month and $99.95 per year (month and annual subscriptions are auto-renewal). This fall all of the Tech football broadcasts can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network as Dave Nitz, Teddy Allen, Malcolm Butler and Bennie Thornell comprise the broadcast team. Nitz enters his 42nd year of calling Bulldog football games as the legendary “Voice of the Bulldogs” has been calling games since 1974 along with Tech men’s basketball and baseball contests. Nitz, who was named the 2009 Louisiana Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association, was enshrined into the LA Tech Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2011. He has been named the Louisiana College Play by Play man of the year three of the past four years by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. Allen enters his sixth season behind the mic, serving as the color commentator for all 12 contests. The 1982 Tech journalism graduate is a well-known, highly-read award-winning Louisiana journalist having covered local sports for Shreveport, Monroe and New Orleans dailies from 1984 until 1990. He has written columns for the News-Star and the Times for the past 23 years. He was the recipient of the Max Russo Award this past June for his work with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. Butler enters his 18th year at Louisiana Tech, serving as the associate athletics director for communications. While this marks his fourth season reporting from the sidelines at football games, Butler has served as the voice of Lady Techster basketball and softball for the past 17 years. He finished second place (behind Nitz) in the LSWA College Radio Play-by-Play category in 2013 and 2016 and in third place in 2015. Thornell begins his 27th year as a member of the LA Tech Sports Network as he will serve as the statistician for the majority of Bulldog football games this year. A 1969 graduate of the Louisiana Tech marketing department, Thornell began his association with the LA Tech Sports Network in 1990 as the statistician before moving down to the sideline in 1996 where he spent more than a decade. The LA Tech Sports Network team will host a 90-minute pregame show prior to each kickoff and a 30-minute post-game show. Tech Gameday, a 90-minute pre-pregame show, will also air prior to each home contest at Joe Aillet Stadium live from Tailgate Alley. Monday: LA Tech’s weekly media luncheon starts with food served at noon and statements/interviews beginning around 12:30 p.m. A few players will also be made available. Head coach Skip Holtz’s radio show airs from 6-7 p.m. live from the Dawg House in Ruston. Tuesday: The last 30 minutes of practice are open to the media. Coaches and players are available following practice (first-year players not available). All video must be of individual players and not of team drills or formations. Wednesday: The last 30 minutes of practice are open to the media. Coaches and players are available following practice (first-year players not available). All video must be of individual players and not of team drills or formations. Thursday, Friday and Sunday: No availability. Saturday: Postgame availability only. Members of the LA Tech Athletics Media Relations Staff will escort media representatives to the media room with five minutes remaining in the game. The Louisiana Tech locker room, home or away, is closed to the media at all times. Postgame interview requests should be submitted to Anna Claire Thomas before the five minute mark in the fourth quarter. For games in Ruston, all Louisiana Tech postgame press conference will be held in the Jarrell Room located in the Davison Athletics Complex after each game following a 10-minute cooling off period. No interviews will be allowed on the field with players and/or coaches immediately following games. Coach Holtz and selected Louisiana Tech players will be available in the press conference following games. Opposing coaches will be available outside the visiting locker room following a 10-minute cooling off period.
