UC Irvine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Irvine, is founded on a commitment to the highest caliber of clinical care, cutting edge research, and innovative education. The Department has expanded in recent years to include all aspects of musculoskeletal medicine including minimally invasive joint replacement, hip preservation services, cartilage regeneration, and other services frequently not available elsewhere in Orange County. This year, we are proud to announce the addition of experts in orthopedic oncology/ joint arthroplasty (Dr. Amanda Goldin), complex spine surgery/trauma surgery (Dr. Sohaib Hashmi), and foot and ankle surgery (Dr. Naudereh Noori). Dr. Goldin is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in adult and pediatric orthopaedic oncology. Her clinical interests include the treatment of bone and soft tissue sarcomas and skeletal metastatic disease.

Dr. Hashmi is a dual fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine and trauma surgeon. Dr. Hashmi specializes in the management of cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral spinal disorders. His clinical interests include complex spinal pathologies from trauma, tumor, deformity including scoliosis and flat back syndrome, degenerative disc disease and athletic injuries. Dr. Noori is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in surgical and nonsurgical treatment of foot and ankle conditions. Her clinical interests include reconstructive surgery, total ankle joint replacement, arthroscopic surgery, foot and ankle sports injuries, minimallyinvasive surgery, trauma, and arthritis. Representing the only University-based orthopedic providers in Orange County, our faculty have been selected by their peers for membership in exclusive international organizations including the Cervical Spine Research Society, the Scoliosis Research Society, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, and the Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons. As members of these organizations and others, the department presented or published over 50 peer-reviewed research projects in the past year, by far the most of any group in Orange County, and we continue to receive awards and competitive funding for our ongoing work. Additionally, the department is particularly proud that our faculty are frequently asked to take care of other physicians’ families and friends.
