Situated along the western shores of scenic Elk Lake in Northern Michigan, Elk Rapids Marina provides seasonal and transient slips with a host of other offerings to kick off your adventure in Michigan’s famed Chain O’ Lakes — the only marina located on Elk Lake with access to the inland lakes.

Purchased by Susie and Lewis Cooper in January of 2021, the former Elk River Marina got a rebrand, remodel and new year-round parts and service department. Today, the old service building located on-site at the marina is a remodeled full- service pro shop and coffee shop called the DAM Shop — named after the hydroelectric dam that separates the marina and town from Lake Michigan.

Caffeinate before heading out on inland adventures, or stop and fill up at the DAM Food Truck, a tasty addition that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.

In addition to dockage, the first-class marina offers boat rentals, new and used boat sales, gas dock services, a parts and service department and summer and winter storage options — a one stop shop for Northern Michigan boaters.

Elk Rapids Marina offers a breathtaking location with plenty of options to explore. “Elk Lake has access to the famous Torch Lake via Torch River, approximately a 40 minute trip,” explains sales and marketing coordinator Mary Kate Klein. “Elk Rapids is surrounded by water and there aren’t too many places you can go where you won’t catch a glimpse of the inland lakes or Lake Michigan.”

The marina recently acquired X Shore, a Swedish- manufactured 100% electric boat line, and has partnered with London-based Aqua superPower to create a fast-charging network in the region. “An exciting opportunity to be on the forefront of the future of the boating industry,” adds Klein. ★
