SITE MAP REQUIREMENTS SINGLE BUILDING FACILITY CALIFORNIA HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE DIVISION 20, CHAPTER 6.95. Hazardous Materials Release Response Plans and Inventory 25505(a)(2) A site map that contains north orientation, loading areas, internal roads, adjacent streets, storm and sewer drains, access and exit points, emergency shutoffs, evacuation staging areas, hazardous material handling and storage areas, emergency response equipment, and additional map requirements the governing body of the unified program agency finds necessary. 25508(a)(1) A handler shall electronically submit its business plan annually to the statewide information management system in accordance with the requirements of this article and certify that the business plan meets the requirements of this article.

1. North Orientation - Indicate NORTH on the map. Use an arrow in the circle located in the top corner of the provided blank map 2. Loading Areas - If applicable, indicate loading docks and loading areas 3. Internal Roads - This requirement is usually not applicable for single building facilities. 4. Adjacent Streets - Indicate adjacent streets, alleys and property uses ( businesses, residential, parking, etc..) on all sides of the facility 5. Storm and Sewer Drains - Indicate any floor drains inside the facility and any storm drains that are on the adjacent streets. Drains that are part of a clarifying system do not need to be indicated on the map. Refer to the legend for commonly used symbols. 6. Access and Exits Points - Indicate all entrance and emergency exits in the facility. Refer to the legend for commonly used symbols. 7. Emergency Shutoffs - Label all the utility shutoffs ( Gas, Water, Electric) on site as well as any bulk hazardous materials storage shutoffs ( Fuel, compressed gases, etc..) Refer to the legend for commonly used symbols. 8. Evacuation Staging Areas - Indicate where all the employees are to assemble in the case of a hazardous materials release. This should match the area indicated in Facility Evacuation section of the business’s Consolidated Emergency Response/Contingency Plan. Refer to the legend for commonly used symbols. 9. Hazardous Materials Handling/Storage Areas - Indicate the area(s) where hazardous materials are stored or handled. If possible, label the type of chemical stored in each area. Refer to the legend for commonly used symbols. 10. Emergency Response Equipment - Indicate any Fire Hydrants, Fire Department Connections and Sprinkler shutoffs located at the facility. Do not include fire extinguishers on the map.

Indicate where hazardous materials are stored and

handled. If possible, label the type of chemical stored in each area Indicate any bulk storage of liquids. Usually used for fuels and oils. Label the tank AST for aboveground tanks and UST for below ground tanks Indicate Emergency Shutoffs. Put the letter of the type of shutoff it is inside each triangle ( E-Electrical,W-Water,G-Gas,S-Sprinkler, etc..) Indicate all Sewer Floor Drains and Storm Drains that may be affected during a hazardous materials release Indicate the Evacuation Staging Area. This should match the area indicated in Facility Evacuation section of the businesses Consolidated Emergency Response/Contingency Plan Indicate the location of any Fire Hydrants that are in close proximity of the facility. Indicate any Fire Department Connections located on the building exterior. Fire Department Connections are usually only found on larger facilities. Indicate Access and Emergency Exits at the facility ***If one or more of these items aren’t located at your facility draw an X through it to indicate that it isn’t located at your facility.
