lackstone Industrials Services USA Ltd., a leader in the field services, parts distribution, repair, and advanced manufacturing of API rotating equipment, has officially opened its new Center of Excellence (CoE), marking a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation, talent development, and operational excellence.
INNOVATION IN MOTION
With over 74,000 square feet, this evolving state-of-the-art facility, located in Houston, Texas, is designed to serve as a collaborative hub for research and development, best practice sharing, and next-generation rotating equipment engineered solutions. The Center will bring together industry experts from across Blackstone’s global operations and strategic partners to accelerate our
ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL CENTER ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL CENTER The Engineering and Technical Center will feature advanced 3D scanning technology and metrology to support complex repairs and the Parts Liberty product line. It offers tools for machinery design, performance optimization, and accurate part replacements. Blackstone has been utilizing 3D scanning technology for the past four years at our Sherwood Park facility in Alberta,
Canada. We have now expanded these capabilities with a dedicated 3D scanning area at our Houston location, equipped with advanced Creaform tools to support precision measurement and engineering services. “We run a handheld scanner over a component to map it then take the data and develop engineering drawings to be able to improve on the design and facilitate
manufacturing,” said Alex Fulthorpe, President. Blackstone recently completed a significant upgrade of a 1940s-era steam turbine operating at a Gulf Coast refinery. Using advanced 3D scanning technology, our team captured precise data on the turbine’s blades, rotors, and diaphragms. Our engineers then leveraged this data to modernize and enhance the performance of the aging equipment. The result: a remarkable 42% increase in turbine output.
