Celebrations of Faith
May Crowning
On May 20th, the Kellenberg Memorial family gathered together to celebrate the May Crowning by adorning the Blessed Mother with a crown of flowers. With the assistance of the Floral Park Fire Department, faculty member Mrs. Penny Riiska (pictured with Fr. Thomas Cardone, S.M.; her daughter, Courtney, and her husband, Billy) had the honor to crown Mary this year. She told The Phoenix newspaper, “I was very honored to have been asked to crown Mary for the May Crowning. It was special because Kellenberg is a Marianist school. I have always had a devotion to Mary, but it has certainly grown stronger as I have experienced the faith life here at Kellenberg. I know that my grandmother, who was very devoted to Mary, would have been so happy if she could have seen it. It was a beautiful day that I was fortunate enough to share with my family, students, and my Kellenberg family.”
Communion Breakfasts
Each spring, every grade level at Kellenberg Memorial gathers for Communion Breakfasts during Lent. Firebird families celebrate Mass together and then gather for breakfast and camaraderie. The annual Communion Breakfasts are just one of many ways that Kellenberg Memorial encourages families to explore and grow their faith lives together.
Eu aristic Adoration Throughout the year, students and faculty members take part in XLT, which are evenings of praise, worship, and fellowship centered around Eucharistic Adoration. Each month features a faculty speaker reflecting on his or her own faith life, along with singing and worship of the Blessed Sacrament.
