1. For the third year, the Brother Joseph C. Fox Latin School held the Our Lady of Guadalupe Pro-Life Oratory Contest, which is sponsored by generous benefactor Mr. Robert Dougherty. The entire eighth grade class participated by learning about pro-life topics and Catholic teachings in religion class before researching and writing persuasive essays in their English class. Teachers chose two essays from each class that were read at the Oratory in front of the entire squire division. We are so proud of this year’s winners: Vivienne Coletta ’25 (First Place), Franco Gallo ’25 (Second Place), and Madeline Naughton ’25 (Third Place). They are pictured above with English teacher Mrs. Christine (Phillips) Agulles ’93, Latin School Chaplain Father Daniel Griffin, S.M. ’02, and Assistant Principal for the Latin School Ms. Maria Korzekwinski. 2. Labor omnia vincit! 31 tyros and 40 squires were awarded for their hard work on the National Latin Exam. Special congratulations are in order for Janessa Winchester ’25, Ava Alperin ’25, and Cole Moclair ’26 who earned perfect scores! Pictured: Zachary Corallo ’26 and Massimo Fargnoli ’26 display their National Latin Exam certificates. 3. On Sunday, May 16th, Latin School students and their families gathered together to celebrate the Eucharist and were treated to “to-go” breakfasts following Mass. After not being able to participate in school activities in-person for so long, the Communion Breakfast was a beautiful return to normalcy for many. Ethan Linzey ’26 does a reading during Mass. 4. Alicia Sclafani ’26 enjoys breakfast outside with her mom, Kika. 5. Jack Lollo ’27 is all smiles under his mask. 6. In March, tyros in C.R.O.S.S. (Christians Reaching Out Spreading Spirituality) ended the second trimester with a prayer service and made thank you cards for the healthcare heroes at NYU Winthrop Hospital. Healthcare heroes happily display the thank you cards made by tyros. 7. Latin School Retreats have been ongoing since January out at Stella Maris, Kellenberg Memorial’s day retreat house in Islip. Students appreciate the time spent away from the classroom getting to know more about themselves and growing closer with each other and God. Homeroom 7A stays warm around the fire while on retreat in January at Stella Maris. 8. Under the direction of Mrs. Anna (Stiglic) Tochelli ’98, Mr. Emmett Collins ’10, and Mr. Brendan Narell, students in the Praetorian Orchestra, Instructional Orchestra, Latin School Chorus, Centurion Band, and Praetorian Band showcased their musical talents in a Virtual Spring Concert which was available on Kellenberg’s website for all to see. The Latin School Chorus performs “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley. 9. Members of the Instructional Orchestra perform “Ode to Joy” by Ludwig van Beethoven.
