• July 20: International Moon Day

Continuous innovation and the achievements of private space exploration companies are making outer space ever more accessible to humankind. At the same time, space has turned into another theater for the rivalry between China and the West, which is taking place also in the form of new missions to the moon. International Moon Day, which was officially declared in 2021, serves not least to send a call for sustainable new exploration on the surface of Earth’s satellite.

• July 23 to 30: Tour de France Femmes

After being discontinued in 2009, it took more than a decade until a Tour de France for women finally was held again last year. This year’s second edition of the Tour de France Femmes covers 956 kilometers in eight stages, starting in the Auvergne region (in Clermont-Ferrand) and ending with an individual time trial near the Pyrenees (in Pau).

• July 27: ECB policy meeting

In the middle of the summer news doldrums, the European Central Bank looks set to tighten the interest-rate screw once more toward the end of July. Afterwards it will likely shift to wait-and-see mode because inflation has long since passed its peak in the Eurozone as well now and the impacts of the more restrictive monetary policy are becoming visible in rising macroeconomic data points.
