Alexa Jones Director of Community Affairs, Boatright Companies
Alexa Jones has always found a way to make her personal achievements synonymous with community enrichment. She is an art-lover, a humanitarian, media personality and public figure: a renaissance woman. Alexa is a native of Andalusia, Alabama. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Birmingham-Southern College, where she majored in English and minored in art. After college, she immersed herself in the art world, interning at New York’s Museum of Modern Art and Alabama’s Birmingham Museum of Art. Alexa founded the Renaissance Foundation of Alabama, Inc., a nonprofit organization devoted to donating quality art supplies and education to Alabama public, private and charter schools. For this she was presented the Presidential Student Service Award and Daily Point of Light Award. Alexa continued to develop her art acumen alongside her community service aspirations. She worked as a Directional Arts Outreach Affiliate for The Smithsonian Institute, and pursued a Master’s degree in Art History at University of Alabama at Birmingham. Within the next few years, Alexa became one of the most recognizable women in the state. In 2005, she was crowned Miss Alabama. In 2006, she was named second runner-up in the Miss America pageant. From 2007 to January 2011 she was the beloved anchor of CBS 42’s Wake Up Alabama. Alexa resides in Birmingham and is now the Director of Community Affairs for Boatright Companies. She continues to build upon her service legacy, serving on the board of directors for Kid One Transport as well as the Shelby County Arts Council. Alexa is a role model empowering young women to establish personal leadership in their communities.
