educated workforce have made it a magnet for financial services firms. Major financial institutions, including banks, investment firms, and insurance companies, have established their presence in Boca Raton, attracted by the absence of a state income tax and a businessfriendly regulatory environment. This sector’s growth is further supported by the city’s commitment to fostering a robust economic infrastructure, which includes state-of-the-art office spaces, technological amenities, and excellent transportation links. In addition to traditional financial services, Boca Raton has become a hub for fintech companies and financial technology innovation. The city’s conducive environment for business growth and its proactive approach to integrating cutting-edge technology have paved the way for the rise of fintech startups. These companies are leveraging Boca Raton’s vibrant ecosystem to develop solutions that enhance financial operations, improve customer experiences, and increase operational efficiencies.

The presence of Florida Atlantic University also plays a critical role, supplying a steady stream of talent and facilitating research partnerships that drive innovation in the financial services sector. As a result, Boca Raton continues to strengthen its position as a leading center for financial services in the region.

Labor The unemployment rate in Boca Raton in March of 2025 was 3.8%, according to the Metropolitan Area Employment and Unemployment Report. A Favorable Tax Environment Florida is one of few states with no personal state income tax, a contributing factor to busi-

ness relocations and population growth. The income tax rate for a Chapter C corporation (regular corporation) is 5.5%. The first $5,000 of taxable income apportioned to Florida is exempt. There is no corporate income tax for Chapter S corporations or partnerships and no corporate franchise tax on capital stock. There also is no property tax on business inventories or vehicles. Florida has one of the nation’s lowest corporate income tax rates. Retail sales tax is 7% in Palm Beach County, and there is no longer an intangible tax (the tax on the value of stocks, bonds, accounts receivable and taxable securities). Incentives for businesses locating in the county’s enterprise zones include credits toward state corporate income tax and sales tax refunds for new equipment and building materials.
