James was raised in Westport, Connecticut, and attended Boston University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Film and Broadcast Journalism. After graduating, he moved to New York, where he began his editorial career in business publishing. Over time, he advanced to editor-in-chief at Act III Communications, leading teams responsible for content that covered entertainment, business, and technology.
