An Excellent Opportunity
The Statler Foundation was established in 1934, following the death of hotelier Ellsworth M. Statler, to support innovation and training in the hotel industry. The Statler Scholarship of Excellence was established in 1997 and is awarded to students who demonstrate a high degree of academic performance in the hotel management field. Support from the Statler Foundation brings innovation to IUP with the creation of a hotel front desk simulation lab. The lab will give students industryrelevant experience with hotel equipment and software.

He is IUP’s first Statler Scholarship of Excellence recipient.
“Through all of this, I’ve kept a 4.0 GPA, in part thanks to Statler,” he said. “Without having to worry about going to work, I’ve been able to focus on my studies quite a bit more.”
