Threshing Day with Jerry Foley.....14

Thankfully, when the day finally came the weather did not disappoint. Granddad and his friends had been getting the threshing machine ready all morning, while others were getting tea, coffee, cakes buns and sandwiches ready for the anticipated crowd of spectators. By Mid-morning the thresher accompanying tractors and baler were set up in the yard ready to go. At lunch time the crowds came to see the old vintage threshing machine in action, the sandwiches & buns were eaten, the tea and coffee drank, and the threshing machine was in full swing with granddad on top feeding in the sheaves of grain. The day was great craic and a massive success. We are very lucky and proud of our granddad Jerry!
