Hair We Go! - Millstreet Salon Welcomes Wig Service

On Tuesday August 8th, Eurostyles Hair Salon in Millstreet will welcome hair, scalp, and wig specialist Aileen Maher. Last year, experienced hair dresser Martina Buckley took part in Aileen’s course Oncology Aesthetics Training for Hairdressers in the James O’Keeffe institute.

Having successfully run her own hairdressing business for 25 years, Aileen became a full-time educator within the hairdressing industry after completing her Teachers, Assessors and IQA award. During this time, Aileen saw the need for scalp education and furthered her career to become a qualified Hair, Scalp & Wig Specialist.

In 2019 Aileen launched her online training platform – a step by step training programme for hairdressers and barbers on the basics of scalp education including the reasons for hair thinning and hair loss, solutions and treatment, through to the fitting of hair pieces and wigs.

From this, Martina shared some information;

“This service is for people going through hair loss from anythingchemo, alopecia, hair loss after having a baby...”.

Martina also identified the emotional aspect of hair loss. It can affect anyone’s confidence and self image, and can affect any age group.

This hair loss and wig clinic will provide free consultation for a range of options including fillers, hair pieces and wigs, and hair and scalp care advice. HSE and Welfare Partner Funding is available for this service.
