A Cleaning Plant for Small Metal Parts That Is Perfectly in Line with the Principles of Tor.Met’s New, People-Oriented Factory A turning company specialising in the production of precision metal components, Tor.Met has inaugurated a new factory where people’s well-being is central. In particular, it chose to equip itself with a modified alcohol cleaning system supplied by IFP Europe, which not only meets the requirements for perfectly clean components but also aligns with the company’s welfare-oriented vision.

A

driano Olivetti, the entrepreneur behind one of the most renowned companies on the Italian business scene, revolutionised the concept of the factory as it had been conceived until the mid-

1950s. “The factory cannot only look at the profit index. It must distribute wealth, culture, services, democracy. I see the factory as serving man, not man serving the factory,” is one of his most famous quotes, summing up his entire vision. Such “corporate humanism” transformed the city of Ivrea and its best-known company, Olivetti, into an experimental laboratory for the development of a new approach to work that was paradoxically closer to today’s mentality – Industry 4.0, ergonomics, production sustainability, and flexible working hours are the words that Adriano Olivetti would probably have used today to describe his idea of a people-oriented workplace – than to that of the 1960s and 1970s, in which socio-political conflicts came to the fore. Tor.Met Srl is a company headquartered within the tap and fitting district in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, in the Piedmont region (Italy), and specialising in the production of precision small parts: its CEO Stefano Romanò recently inaugurated a new plant that reflects Olivetti’s social vision of a “factory serving man”. “Any company like ours, established as a family business in this area,” explains Romanò during our interview, “can get where we have got, with the right focus on investment and production diversification. At the same time, the other board representatives and I firmly believe that we would never have achieved our current results without our employees. That is why a prerequisite of our development strategy is putting them in the position of working at best, using the most advanced, environmentally friendly, and interconnected machinery. We have transformed our company into a place where it is even pleasant to stay outside working hours, for example thanks to the cycle path that runs around the entire perimeter of our new factory and its in-house gym, both of which are available to
