Opening photo). But what can hinder the effectiveness of a coating system and the ability to provide the level of resistance expected in an insulated environment? Poor application, application of an incorrectly specified product, or possibly (albeit rarely) a defective product itself, are all potential factors that may cause a coating system to fail. But could these failures be avoided if the right tests were carried out to ensure the coating was correctly specified in the first place?

li operatori delle industrie manifatturiere sono ben consapevoli dei danni potenziali che possono verificarsi in ambienti molto caldi e favorevoli alla corrosione sotto l’isolamento (CUI, Corrosion Under Insulation) e riconoscono il ruolo che un rivestimento protettivo può svolgere nel prevenire questi problemi (rif. foto d’apertura). Ma cosa può ostacolare l’efficacia di un sistema verniciante e la capacità di fornire il livello di resistenza richiesto in un ambiente isolato? Un’applicazione di scarsa qualità, l’applicazione di un prodotto specificato in modo sbagliato, o verosimilmente (anche se è raro) un prodotto difettoso di per sé, sono tutti fattori potenziali che possono causare l’insuccesso di un sistema verniciante. Ma questi fallimenti potrebbero essere evitati se si effettuassero delle prove corrette per accertarsi che il rivestimento sia stato prima di tutto specificato correttamente?
