r. James A. Overstreet and Ms. Julie C. Overstreet of Oxford, Miss., are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Chelsey to Christopher Hedglin, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hedglin of Madison, Miss. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Coltharp of Oxford and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Overstreet, also of Oxford. Chelsey graduated in May from Millsaps College with a degree in religious studies and minors in peace studies and faith & work. At Millsaps, she was an active member of many campus organizations and served as president of Delta Delta Delta sorority and the religious studies/ theology honorary Theta Alpha Kappa. Chelsey will work as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Millsaps College for the 1 Campus 1 Community program, where she will coordinate community engagement opportunities for the college. The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Hedglin of Bogue Chitto, Miss., and Mr. George Jenkins and the late Mrs. Ethel Mae Crouch Jenkins of Madison. Christopher is a 2002 graduate of Millsaps College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society. He earned a master’s degree in Southern Studies from the University of Mississippi in 2004. He teaches U.S. government and Advanced Placement U.S. government at Northwest Rankin High School. This year, he was named Teacher of the Year for Northwest Rankin High School. The couple will exchange vows at OxfordUniversity United Methodist Church June 15.
