3 JURY DUTY AND
BEREAVEMENT PAY
You don’t have to use PTO if you have a death in the immediate family or have to serve on a jury. You may be paid for up to 24 hours per occurrence under Bereavement Leave. 4 COMPASSION BENEFIT
If you die while employed by Houston Methodist, your designated recipient(s) will receive a $10,000 benefit, typically within three days. You don’t have to do anything to sign up for this benefit, but you do need to go online to name the person whom you want to get this payment. Otherwise the payment will go to your estate.
