A Comparison of Extended Form of Chinese Separable Verbs and its Corresponding Thai Structure Namonrut Yamwong Abstract Separable verbs are the special phenomenon in Modern Chinese Grammar with special characteristics which can be “separated” and “jointed”. Separable verbs are grammatically difficult in teaching Chinese as a foreign language and it is easy for Thai students to make mistakes as well. Therefore, this paper aims to study the identification and classification of the separable verbs, including an analysis of its separated forms, because the separated forms are very complicated and really hard to handle. Moreover, the paper also focuses on finding out the corresponding forms in Thai, in order to compare and analyze the similarities and differences between Chinese and Thai.
