“We still hold hands (now together with our daughter) when we go out,” said Chee Wee. “Small gestures like hugs and kisses and saying ‘I love you’ every day let us know we’re here for each other.” A surprise every now and then also helps. “Diana will send me gifts out of the blue,” said Jude, “such as cards and albums she made herself. I would fill my office with them!” Time out as a couple is important as well. “Life has become more challenging since our daughter came along,” said Lillian. “When our girl is taking her afternoon nap or asleep at night, we try to spend some couple time just chatting with each other.” Diana and Jude make it a point to go on short holidays without the kids. “We ‘steal’ some time off when we can, such as going for a late supper when the kids are asleep.” Both couples also take part in HomeTeamNS activities and use the clubhouse facilities. “We attend the Home Team Family Day whenever we can, and we’ve taken part in the REAL Run many times,” said Lillian. Diana also brings her young ones to swim at the Balestier clubhouse. “We’re going to take up bowling next – the kids can join us when they’re older!”
Love bites Our couples reveal what they love about their other half! Lillian: Chee Wee puts up with all my complaints and he’s always there for me, no matter what happens. He also helps me with all the housework and taking care of our girl. Chee Wee: Lillian is thoughtful in taking care of our family and she always has kind words for me. She also gives me space to enjoy my favourite sports and pastimes. Diana: Jude is a cool dude who always has everything under control. He’s a doting father, the kids love him, and he always makes me smile. He’s also quite handsome. Jude: Diana is full of love for our family. They say there’s a woman behind every successful man, and she’s been really supportive of me. I also love her enchanting eyes.
