sve je manje dana preostalo do svečanog otvaranja ljetnih Olimpijskih igara u Riju. Najveći je to športski događaj na planetu kojeg će pratiti više od dvije milijarde ljudi, dok će na športskim borilištima 10.500 športašica i športaša nastojati na najbolji način promovirati svoju zemlju, šport kojim se bave i – sebe. Oni koji se uspiju popesti na olimpijski tron, ostat će zapisani kao športaši čija imena i prezimena nikad, baš nikad neće biti zaboravljena, naći će se na onom vječnom popisu športskih velikana. Sredinom ožujka, naših je športaša koji su osigurali nastup na Igrama 49. Bit će ih zacijelo manje no u Londonu kada ih je nastupilo 107; u Riju je realno očekivati njih osamdesetak. Projekt OI Rio 2016. u HOO-u je započeo s realizacijom prije četiri godine, netom nakon završetka Igara u Londonu. S ponosom možemo reći da je realizacija Projekta tekla prema planu, da su našim športašicama Glavni tajnik Hrvatskog i športašima ponuđeni zadovoljavajući uvjeti, sve kako olimpijskog odbora bi svojim znanjem i vještinama mogli konkurirati Secretary General of the športašima sa svih strana svijeta. Croatian Olympic Committee Naravno, odgovor na to koliko smo bili uspješni (i športaši i mi), dat će broj osvojenih medalja u Riju. Josip Čop, dipl. oec. Nitko nam nema pravo oduzeti nadu, a nada za nas u HOO-u znači osvojiti broj odličja na razini Londona, dakle šest. No, isto tako, nitko nam ne može oduzeti veliku želju da se hrvatski športaši iz Brazila vrate barem s jednom medaljom više... A kao svojevrsno zaigravanje za Rio, u Zagrebu i Rijeci od 12. do 25. srpnja održat će se Europske sveučilišne igre, događaj na kojem će nastupiti gotovo pet i pol tisuća studenata-športaša iz 45 europskih zemalja...
day after day, the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Rio is getting closer and closer. This is the biggest sports event on the planet that will be followed by more than two billion people, while in the sports venues there will be 10,500 male and female athletes seeking to promote in the best way their country, sports they are practicing and - themselves. Those who manage to climb on the Olympic pedestal, will be recorded as the athletes whose names and surnames will never, never be forgotten, staying on that eternal list of sports notables. In mid-March, the number of our athletes who have qualified for the Games is 49. There will be certainly less athletes than at the London Olympics when there were 107 athletes; concerning the Rio Olympics, it would be realistic to expect eighty of them. The Croatian Olympic Committee began with the realization of the Project Rio Olympics 2016 four years ago, right after the end of the London Olympics. We can proudly say that the realization of the project ran according to the plan and that our athletes were offered satisfactory conditions, everything in order to enable them to use their knowledge and skills in competing with athletes from all around the world. Of course, the question on how successful we have been (both the athletes and us) in the same will get its answer in number of medals won in Rio. No one has the right to take us away the hope, the hope that for us in the Croatian Olympic Committee means winning the number of medals equal to the number of medals won at the London Olympics - that is six. However, no one can take us away the wish to have the Croatian athletes return from Brazil with at least one more medal... As a sort of preparation for Rio, the European Universities Games will be held in Zagreb and Rijeka from July 12 to 25, an event that will host nearly five and a half thousand students-athletes from 45 European countries...
