Mateša ostao član Izvršnog odbora, Capralos predsjednik EOO-a Na 50. sjednici Glavne skupštine Europskih olimpijskih odbora (EOO) u Ateni, 10. lipnja, predsjednik Helenskog olimpijskog odbora Spyros Capralos izabran je za devetog predsjednika EOO-a, s 34 glasa prema 16, koliko je dobio čelnik Danskog olimpijskog odbora i dosadašnji v.d. predsjednika EOO-a Niels Nygaard. U mandatu od 2021. do 2025. godine dopredsjednica EOOa bit će Daina Gudzineviciute iz Litve, glavni tajnik (ostao je) Raffaele Pagnozzi (Italija) i blagajnik Peter Mennel (Austrija). Na Skupštini su bili predstavnici svih 50 europskih nacionalnih olimpijskih odbora (ENOC). Glavna skupština EOO-a izabrala je i Izvršni odbor za razdoblje od 2021. do 2025. godine, a u njega je ponovno reizabran i predsjednik Hrvatskog olimpijskog odbora (HOO) Zlatko Mateša. Uz njega, članovi/članice IO-a su: JeanMichel Brun (Francuska), Uschi Schmitz (Njemačka), Annamarie Phelps (Velika Britanija), Líney Rut Halldorsdóttir (Island), Berit Kjoll (Norveška), José Manuel Araújo (Portugal), Cristina Vasilianov (Moldavija), Mihai Covaliu (Rumunjska), Đorđe Višacki (Srbija), Victoria Cabezas (Španjolska) i Hasan Arat (Turska). Nakon prijedloga Irskog olimpijskog saveza, najmanje pet od 16 članova IO-a sada moraju biti žene. Prvi put u povijesti EOO-a sedam žena je u IO-u, u odnosu na dvije u prethodnom mandatu. Žene dominiraju u novoizabranom Etičkom povjerenstvu EOO-a: Maja Smrdu (Slovenija), Martina Spreitzer-Kropiunik (Austrija) i Juha Viertola (Finska).
Hrvatska skijašica, 17-godišnja Zrinka Ljutić, osvojila je treće mjesto u izboru 6. zimskog izdanja Nagrade Piotr Nurowski kojom Europski olimpijski odbori (EOO) nagrađuju mlade športaše i športašice Starog kontinenta. Na gala-večeri u Ateni 10. lipnja, u sklopu 50. glavne skupštine Europskih olimpijskih odbora, prvu nagradu dobila je biatlonka Lena Repinc iz Slovenije (rođena 2003.), drugi je bio belgijski snowboarder Evy Poppe, a iza naše Zrinke Ljutić estonski je skijaš slobodnim stilom Henry Sildaru i britanska skijašica slobodnog stila Kirsty Muir. Uz trofej Piotra Nurowskog, Repinc je osvojila i glavnu novčanu nagradu od 15 000 eura (kao stipendiju za potporu trenažnom procesu u nastavku karijere), Poppe 8000, Zrinka Ljutić 5000, a Sildaru i Muir dobili su po 3000 eura. Spyros Capralos President of EOC, Zlatko Mateša remains a member of the Executive Committee At the 50th session of the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in Athens, held on 10 June, the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee Spyros Capralos was elected the ninth President of the EOC, beating thus the President of the Danish Olympic Committee and former Acting President of the EOC Niels Nygaard by 34 votes to 16. In the mandate from 2021 to 2025, the EOC's Vice President will be Daina Gudzineviciute from Lithuania, Secretary General (remained) Raffaele Pagnozzi (Italy) and Treasurer Peter Mennel (Austria). The Assembly was attended by the representatives of all 50 European National Olympic Committees (ENOC). The EOC’s General Assembly also elected the members of the Executive Committee (EC) for the term 2021-2025, and the President of the Croatian Olympic Committee (COC) Zlatko Mateša, was re-elected to the EC. Besides him, the members of the EC are: Jean-Michel Brun (France), Uschi Schmitz (Germany), Annamarie Phelps (United Kingdom), Líney Rut Halldorsdóttir (Iceland), Berit Kjoll (Norway), José Manuel Araújo (Portugal), Cristina Vasilianov (Moldova), Mihai Covaliu (Romania), Đorđe Višacki (Serbia), Victoria Cabezas (Spain) and Hasan Arat (Turkey). Following a motion proposed by the Olympic Federation of Ireland and approved by the EOC GA in November 2020, a minimum five of the 16 Executive Committee members must now be of each gender. For the first time in the EOC history, now there are seven women in the EC, compared to two in the previous term. Women dominate the newly elected EOC’s Ethics Commission: Maja Smrdu (Slovenia), Martina Spreitzer-Kropiunik (Austria) and Juha Viertola (Finland). Zrinka Ljutić is Europe’s third young athlete Croatian skier Zrinka Ljutić, 17, won the third place in the 6th winter edition of the Piotr Nurowski Prize, presented to young male and female athletes of the Old Continent by the European Olympic Committees (EOC). At the gala dinner in Athens on 10 June during the 50th session of the EOC’s General Assembly, the first prize went to biathlete Lena Repinc from Slovenia (born in 2003), the second to the Belgian snowboarder Evy Poppe, while our Zrinka Ljutić was followed by Estonian freestyle skier Henry Sildaru and British freestyle skier Kirsty Muir. Besides the Piotr Nurowski's Prize, Repinc won the top prize money of 15,000 EUR (as a scholarship to support the training process in the continuance of her career), runner-up Poppe 8,000 EUR, third-placed Ljutić 5,000 EUR, while fourth and fifth-placed Sildaru and Muir received 3,000 EUR each. The EOC Prize for young athletes was launched in 2011 and given in memory of the Polish Olympic Committee’s President Piotr Nurowski, who died in a plane crash in April 2010. Two years ago, in the summer edition of the Prize, our swimmer Franko Grgić was second. The Croatian Olympic Committee congratulated Zrinka Ljutić on her valuable EOC recognition, and the President of the Croatian Olympic Committee Zlatko Mateša and Secretary General Siniša Krajač did personaly in Athens.
