nadam se da mi nećete zamjeriti što ću uvodnik, s nekoliko rečenica, posvetiti događaju koji datira još iz početka mjeseca svibnja. Naime, tada je svoj epilog dobio natječaj za glavnog tajnika HOO-a za naredno, četverogodišnje razdoblje 2017. - 2021. Ponosan sam i sretan što sam tim natječajem dobio tu odgovornu obvezu i zahtjevnu zadaću da kao prvi operativac HOO-a i dalje vodim tu našu krovnu športsku organizaciju. Od prvog trenutka kada sam postao glavni tajnik HOO-a (a to je bilo 2005.), želja i cilj su mi bili isti: da uz pomoć mojih suradnika u stručnim službama, predsjednika HOO-a, članova Vijeća u svim mandatima, kolegica i kolega u savezima i športskim zajednicama, ovu kuću, Hrvatski olimpijski odbor, učinimo kućom športaša, struke, razvoja, ideja, novih programa i projekata. I naravno - rezultata. I medalja. Slobodno mogu reći da smo na svim tim razinama postigli napredak, pozitivan pomak, ali i da, kao pravi športaši, želimo da ti pomaci, u dolazećem razdoblju, budu još vidljivi. Zato svim sudionicima u športu poručujem da su im vrata HOO-a otvorena, da zajedno možemo riješiti, ako ne sve, barem veliku većinu problema. Ovdje inzistiram na zajedništvu te tvrdim da u hrvatskom društvu nema brojnije populacije od športske. A takvi, brojni, kad bi bili Glavni tajnik Hrvatskog još čvršće povezani, uvjeravam vas da nema tog problema kojeg ne olimpijskog odbora bismo bili sposobni riješiti - od financiranja, statusa, infrastrukture, Secretary General of the dobre zakonske regulative primjerene športu... Croatian Olympic Committee Upravo to zajedništvo treba biti brana i zaštita pred svima koji neargumentirano, kukavički, niskim udarcima napadaju vrhunske Josip Čop, dipl. oec. športaše, poput nedavnog bezumnog napada na državnu tajnicu za šport Janicu Kostelić. Ti „hrabri muškarci-ratnici“ jedino u čoporu imaju javnu hrabrost napada na druge, potpuno ignorirajući činjenicu da je gospođa Kostelić u samo godinu dana na ovoj funkciji, za šport napravila više nego oni prije nje u zadnjem desetljeću. Do Janice se pričalo, a od Janice se radi. Upravo zato ona treba dobiti bezrezervnu podršku svih ljudi iz športa. Spomenutim zajedništvom, šačici bezprizornih moramo na jasan način pokazati da cijela naša zajednica čvsto stoji uz legendarnu športašicu kojoj se cijeli svijet divio i koja je dugi niz godina na najbolji način promovirala hrvatsku državu.
I hope you will not blame me for dedicating this foreword, with several sentences, to the event that dates back to the beginning of May. Namely, at that time the vacancy for Secretary General of the Croatian Olympic Committee for the next four-year period 2017-2021 has completed. I am proud and happy that I have been given, by winning the mentioned competition, this responsible and demanding task to continue - as the first Croatian Olympic Committee’s Operator – leading our umbrella sports organization. From the very first moment I became Secretary General of the Croatian Olympic Committee (and that was in 2005), my wish and goal remained the same: to make this house, the Croatian Olympic Committee, a home of athletes, profession, development, ideas, new programs and projects with the help of my associates in professional services, the President of the Croatian Olympic Committee, the members of the Council in all the terms and colleagues in the federations and sports associations. And of course – of the results. And of the medals. I can freely say that we have not only achieved progress, a positive shift forward, on all these levels, but also that we, as real athletes, wish these shifts to be visible in the upcoming period. That is why I am sending a message to all the participants in sport that the doors of the Croatian Olympic Committee are open, that together we can solve everything, and if not all, at least a large majority of issues. Here I insist on communion and I claim that in the Croatian society there is no greater population that the sports one. And as such, numerous, if connected even more closely, I assure you that there is no problem we couldn’t be able to solve - from financing, status, infrastructure, good legal framework adapted to the sport... It is this communion that should be defense and protection against all those attacking top athletes with unsubstantiated, cowardly, low-impact attacks, such as the recent frantic attack on the Secretary of State for Sports Janica Kostelić. These "brave men-warriors" have the courage for public attack on others only when in the crowd, completely ignoring the fact that Ms. Kostelić has done more for sports in only a year than those before her in the last decade. Until Janica there was only talking and since Janica the things are happening. That is why she needs unrivaled support from all the people in sport. Through the mentioned communion we have to show clearly to the handful of shameless ones that our whole community is standing by the legendary athlete, once admired by the whole world, promoting the Croatian state for the past several years in the best way possible.
