zastor je spušten: najveći športski događaj na planetu završio je. Sliježu se dojmovi, analiziraju nastupi i zbrajaju rezultati. Jedinstvena, unisona ocjena cijele Hrvatske je da su ovo za nas bile najuspješnije Igre dosad – i po broju naših športaša na OI i po broju osvojenih medalja. Podsjetimo se samo naše bilance: tri zlata, srebro i dvije bronce. Deseta zemlja po uspješnosti u Europi, sedma na svijetu po broju osvojenih medalja u odnosu na broj stanovnika. Fascinantno! Ako se osvrnete na prethodni broj Olimpa i moje osobne prognoze napisao sam ovako: osvojimo li pet medalja - fantastično, šest - više od fantastičnog, a sedam bi bio san, “dotaknuli bismo svemir”. Ispričavam se svim čitateljima ako su u ovom tekstu naslutili euforiju, budući da rijetko izražavam svoje unutarnje osjećaje, ali eto, u Londonu je ispalo „više od fantastičnog“. Dopustite mi da svim hrvatskim športašima, a pogotovo osvajačima medalja na OI u Londonu, njihovim trenerima i svim osobama u stručnim timovima, kao i svim predstavnicima Glavni tajnik Hrvatskog nacionalnih saveza, još jednom čestitam na iznimnom uspjehu. olimpijskog odbora Naravno, ne treba izostaviti, niti zaboraviti, zahvaliti se Vladi Secretary General of the RH i Ministarstvu znanosti obrazovanja i športa koji su dali Croatian Olympic Committee značajnu financijsku podršku normalnom radu i djelovanju HOO-a, te na taj način pridonijeli ovom značajnom športskom Josip Čop, dipl. oec. uspjehu. A sada vraćanje u realnost, na poslove i zadaće koji nas očekuju. U prvom redu, to je izrada dva Projekta: Mediteranske igre u Mersinu 2013. godine i Olimpijske igre u Rio de Janeiru 2016. Projekti se usvajaju zajedno s Proračunom HOO-a za 2013., na Veliki dan Hrvatskog olimpijskog odbora, 27. prosinca 2012., kada će se održati i Skupština HOO-a. U međuvremenu (22. listopada) održat će se i redovni izbori za predsjednika HOO-a. Nadam se da će HOO i u budućnosti postizati ovako dobre sportske rezultate, da će ova naša, vodeća, športska institucija, i nadalje ostati perjanica hrvatskog športa.

The curtain is down: the biggest sports event on the planet is over. The impressions are settling down, the performances are being analyzed and the results summed up. The unique, unison opinion of the whole Croatia is that for Croatia these Olympics were the most successful ever – both concerning the number of our athletes performing at the Olympics and the number of medals won. Let's just remember our awards: three gold, one silver and two bronze medals. Tenth in Europe by success, seventh in the world by the number of medals won in relation to the size of the population. Fascinating! If you look in the previous number of Olimp and my personal forecasts, I wrote this: if we win five medals - fantastic, six - more than fantastic and seven would be a dream come true, "we would touch the universe”. I apologize to all readers if they sensed euphoria in this text, since I express my inner feelings very rarely, but in London the things were “more than fantastic”. Please allow me to congratulate once again all the Croatian athletes, especially the medal winners at the Olympic Games in London, their coaches and all the persons in professional teams as well as all the representatives of national federations on outstanding performance. Of course, we should not omit or forget to thank the Government of Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports for significant financial support to the normal operation and activities of the COC, as their contribution to this remarkable athletic achievement. And now back to reality, to activities and tasks that await us. In the first place, it is drafting of two projects: the Mediterranean Games in Mersin in 2013 and the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2017. The Projects will be adopted along with the COC budget for 2013 on the Big day of the Croatian Olympic Committee, December 27th, when the COC assembly will be held. In the meantime (on October 22nd), the regular elections for the President of the COC will be held. I hope that COC will continue achieving great sports results in the future as well, and that this, leading sports institution of ours will remain the flagship of Croatian sports. Olimp 5
